If you aren't worried about the latest Android versions, give Oxygen a go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Oxygen_ROM

It's completely vanilla android without any of the HTC add-ons, apps or nonsense and as such it is MUCH smaller than factory ones and leaves a good chunk more space on the internal memory. It's also lovely and fast and stable.

Some of the later apps that I want to run on the Desire need Android 4 frown

Let me know how that goes - more to the point that it'll accept the bigger ext4 partition and read it properly...

Seems to be doing a better job of space management on the phone. The only time I've seen the space warning was while Facebook was setting up, why that app has to be so big is anyone's guess! It did drop back again once it had gone through the setup phase though.

It's crashed and rebooted a few times when I try to do too much at the same time, probably to be expected.

Damn I miss my Nexus 4!

Am I being thick as I can't see a download link for this or GApps (do we need that?)

This has worked an absolute treat - runs smoothly and nicely

My only mistake has been only setting aside 1gb for apps in the ext4 partition. It's a 32gb card so I should have gone for 4gb.

I may re-rebuild.
