I need a new printer and have found one on Amazon. What's the score with the warranty? In the past if I have ever purchased something from Amazon and not a 'seller or company' then if there is a fault they replace it no questions - up to 6 months I think. Does this apply only to items purchased direct from Amazon? What about the companies trading on there- are you buying direct from them or from Amazon. Bit confused. Thanks.

Amazon is not the seller, check out the actual seller in the description and decide if you feel comfortable buying a printer from them.

Looking at the other items they sell is a good idea ........

I'd suggest buying it from somewhere like Printerbase

http://www.printerbase.co.uk/acatalog/hp-officejet...

Almost the same price, plus you get £40 cashback and free 3 year warranty.

+1 to the above

Amazon doesn't force its own policies onto its 'marketplace sellers' so you are then potentially in no mans land. You would be better buying from a reputable source directly.

Not actually the same printer, but very similar.

Ebuyer does the same one as the OP was looking at

ETA - not knowing the difference between the 8610 and 8620, I just checked. It would seem that the 8620 is a slightly higher spec.

For the OP:

http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2014/...

On both, there's a free 3 year warranty - which is from HP (as it would be if purchased from Printerbase / Printerland etc)

Not to be sniffed at.

With regards to warranty, Amazon are superb. I bought a kitchen bin from them 7 months back, lid fell off last night so I emailed them. Within 1 hour I'd got a full refund and they'd sent return labels to send it back, no questions asked. Just make sure you are purchasing from Amazon and not from another seller.

DSR (well, their successor) and SoGA still apply.
