I'm currently with Virgin Media paying over £30 a month for just broadband (60 meg). Is there a cheaper but just as effective alternative out there nowadays?
I have searched PH but nothing since 2012...

THanks in advance

Have you tried "renegotiating " with VM ?
Reason I ask is that I simply rang them on Monday evening to find out what I was paying for my Broadband and phone (it was complicated as I pay an advance line rental on the phone for the year). The question I wanted answering was " if I hadn't paid the advance line rental what would I be paying ?
The poor girl apologised several times for being unable to answer a relatively straight foreward question and then passed me through to "customer relations" who then were very nosey bout why I was asking. They automatically assumed I must be leaving I think prompted by the recent price increase letter sent out. I wasn't I simply wanted the info for something else.
They couldn't wait to offer me a reduced deal or more services which I'm not remotely interested in. It would have meant signing up again ie locking in but I could straight away have saved £6

I haven't yet. I'm waiting to see if there is a genuine alternative that is more competitive. Then I'll tell them I'm leaving - and if they give me a deal worth staying for, I'll stay.

Seeing some of the feedback/topics re some ISPs, they're cheap for a reason.
Admittedly my employer pays for mine, but Zen is very good. I have FTTC which gets me +40 Down / 20 Up - reliably and consistently.

Who do you have your TV service with? You may be able to get a package from them, or use that to negotiate a reduction from virgin

Freeview. I don't watch enough tv to warrant buying a tv package.
I guess it's looking like I'm not going to netter £30 odd a month for broadband only doesn't it....

Not at those speeds at least. You can probably do better if you go slower.
