Being pressured to give Christmas lists and dont really have anything I need, So was thinking maybe a decent Torch.

I can see there is a massive thread but if there was a must have torch in the £ 50 - £ 100 range what would it be.

I know nothing about torches but would like something that lit up a wide area up to about 50+ meters.

Lots of decent Nitecore torches within your budget, all shapes and sizes:

Olights are quality too, R40 looks tasty for the money:

I brought the Fenix PD35 a few months ago, wow! Small light and amazing wide beam with different power outputs. Best run off 18650's so you would want a charger as well but very worth it:

Hello!

I'm a torch nut (several Grand's worth, covering the latest of the Olight SR Series, the Nitecore TM26, and many others below that, comprising Nitecore and Klarus).

Let me point you towards the Nitecore P12. Along with the Digicharger D2 (£26), their 3400maH 18650 battery ('NL189' £19).

Even as one who has single-LED torches which will put out 4800 Lumens - I'm blown away by the P12.

Plus - it's useful in everyday life - namely a meaningful 'Moon' mode - 1 Lumen - which means that this torch will do everything from flood your back garden, to checking up on the baby, or reading a carol sheet by night.

The interface is fantastic - and it's just a really solid bit of kit.

I also personally go to Nitecore's UK supplier - who can be found at the domain name that goes best with that fact!

And Dragon lights, with their deployment of LEDs as to be found in petrol-station torches - are not really anything worth talking about, IMO.

For example - the Nitecore TM26 is completely hand-holdable - and has a comparable peak beam intensity of the Dragonlight spider thing (Lumen comparisons don't work always, as one may be aimed at flooding, the other at spotlighting).

The tech has seriously moved way on from stuffing loads of LEDs into a head, and then also talking about Candlepower to express overall brightness!

eBay - Cree xml t5 is the bulb you want

You can buy ones with multiple bulbs too. I've a couple of trustfire ones with three bulbs in them and they're as bright as you probably need (4000lm - pretty close a car headlight on full beam) but for £50-£100 you can get ones with even more bulbs and therefore even brighter.

The cases are usually aluminium and feel great. The electronics and batteries can be iffy, especially cheap rechargeable batteries.
