Thats cheap, the one problem is, a lot of files could be lost when it goes faulty, I suggest anyone thinking of buying one should consider buying two if they can afford them, use one and keep the other as a mirror

Seagate's unenviable reputation is appalling.

Seagate did sort out the 1.5Tb problem and did replace returned drives

Would take a chance on a Seagate device now?

What about the Seagate 3TB ones? Seagate had a 42% failure rate in 2014. I know where my money would go and it wouldn't be Seagate!

Seagate's problems make IBM's 'Deathstar' look like a blip!

Incidentally don't Hitachi own that brand now?

We have loads of external hard drives, all from different manufacturers at work. WD, Seagate, Toshiba etc. Never had one fail, unless it's been dropped from a great height!

Obviously it can happen, but as long as you have a backup I wouldn't worry who made it.

I believe that their 2014 RMA was approaching double that of WD's. Large drive too - I wouldn't entertain them and I believe that anyone doing so is foolish in the extreme.

That was a long time ago and caused by MS's losing their IBM OEM status.

Seagate used to be reliable, but their recent issues are unprecedented.

At that time I was an IBM DSG broker. Sys36, Sys38 AS/400 & RiSC/6000.

No! I jumped ship to PCs in the mid-nineties. Fortunately for me, I had always been interested in PS/2s and RS/6000s which gave me a head start when the black AS/400s and new S/36s were introduced and PC networks started to take over.

I ended up as a technical sales rep for a large computer manufacturer.
