I have had my much loved Ipod Classic stolen, today I went to PC World to replace it, they had sold out.
This is very bad as they were the last shop I knew about to stock it.
I need an alternative, I have been looking at a Filo X5 and a Colorfly C4/C3.
Are these any good, my main problem is I haven't heard of any of these, reviews suggest they sound significantly better than the Ipod, this wouldn't be hard TBH, anyone owned any of these players? is the C4 worth a few hundred quid more than the others?
Alternative suggestions welcome, bearing in mind I want 100GB minimum and ease of use is a must.
Thanks for replies.

Exoensive, but the sound is supposedly great.

There are other similar units claiming much better sound than the iPod

That looks pretty good, I have no doubt the Ipod can be beaten for sound, I went to look for a second one because my car is wired for one, and the storage, the sound wasn't the best.

I got one of these after my Ipod was stolen. http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Sansa-Clip-Player-...

It's tiny, and doesn't exactly look stylish, but the sound quality seems really good, and it's easy to use. You can put microSD cards in it for whatever capacity you want.

That looks ok,how does the sound compare to your Ipod? I have to say though, I'm leaning towards a FiiO X5.

I would say it's a bit better if anything, but I'm no audiophile!

To bump this thread, I have now fell in love with the Colorfly C4, any one got one? some bold claims are made about its sound quality.

I didn't know it got discontinued!
You could still purchase a brand new one earlier last year.
iPod Touch scratches easily. frown

You could probably pick up a used one on Amazon, or in a physical store (such as CEX - where price varies on condition/grade)...

Problem is, the Classics are now commanding a big premium, secondhand they are as dear as new ones, and they ain't that good, I wouldn't entertain a touch, to much money for to little memory.

Gosh what a shame, there's a bloke just sold a FiiO X1 in Champagne Gold on Tz-uk Sales Corner with FiiO E11K Kilimanjaro 2 Portable Headphone Amp AND 32Gb SD card for £95

the nuts for the money and size

I'd link to the page, but it's a private forum so it won't work.

but I'm pleased to hear my iPod Classic is soon to go up in value smile

I found a faulty classic on Ebay for £35, powers up and then switches off, usually a sign of a dead hdd.

I then purchased one of these - http://www.tarkan.info/20121226/tutorials/ipod-and...

And a 128g sd card, class 10 at least.

It took about 20 minutes and transforms the speed of the classic, well worth doing. (I've done my previously working classic as well)

Edit - you'll need a decent spudger to split the case open, Ebay or Amazon sell them and use a hairdryer to soften up the glue that bonds the case together.

I hated my 120GB iPod Classic. It used to crash all the time, sounded crap and the battery failed just out of warranty. I now use the Sony I bought in about 2005 and it's still perfect.

I do want one, but the wife would rip my sack off if that turned up.
Certainly some food for thought with an excellent suggestion off coinSlot.

When my classic went I was dead set on another, now I don't really one one, head says Fillo X5, heart says Colorfly C4.

I thought I would update this, in the end I decided that I had got used to not having an MP3, so I bought some speakers for my hifi instead.
I came very close to buying a Colorfly C4, but couldn't help feeling it was stupid money for what it was.
Thanks for all replies.
