I just noticed that in America they are selling them for $199 unlocked with a year of free Amazon prime. I would imagine that the same will come here as that is just dumping them. (Original price was $650).
You have VAT to pay on that price though...so really its $250/£170 - which is the same as the UK price if you added on Prime membership.

I wander off to America every few weeks so tax is 8% ish and the phone in unlocked unlike the one here which is 02.

Not saying I was going to buy one, just an interesting comparison.

Oh yeah, so if one was going to buy another year of Prime, then it's essentially a phone for £20?

To be honest though the first iPhone was rubbish as a smartphone internet browsing concept based around apps and data, it didn't even have 3G.
Didnt even have an app store for a while did it?

I've ordered one. If I don't like it I think I should be able to get my money back smile

Exactly. Will probably flip it for a profit on eBay!

Well I bought a 32gb and a 64gb, one for the OH and one for myself.

I figure if we don't like them I can shift them on at no loss.

Nobody wants them, there is no demand. Prices for new ones have dropped on ebay to £31-70 with bids, some people still asking silly money (£125-180) but they won't be selling as they have no bids, only one I can see at a high price with bids is £102.

Not sure how hard you looked...the last one sold for £166!

Not if I flog them to a couple of people I know are after a new phone and wouldn't be too bothered about the compromise.

Hurray!

Ordered one too.

Shouldn't take to long for the price to rise again.

Thats quick! Did you order it early on in the day yesterday?

Assume mine is being shipped from the arse end of nowhere, 2-4 week leadtime.

Don't forget to post instructions when you figure out the easiest way to sideload the Google apps on it - e.g. Youtube and Google maps

It'll save me some bother when mine turns up!

Is the consensus then that it's pretty good for £99 but rubbish for £299?

I've actually ordered one to see what it's like (and I have a spare sim with £40 pre paid on it).
My normal phone is a Sony which is in the £300ish range I think. Well, it was quite a bit more when I bought it about a year ago.

Picked mine up today.

First impressions are; ridiculous fking nano sim requirement; ridiculously bastardised interface; ridiculous lack of a back button.
