Non-smart phones
Discussion
Who here still uses a non-smart phone? Or has anyone given up a smartphone to go back to a basic mobile phone that is just a phone?
I have used iPhones for the last four years or so (first a 4, now a 5), moving from a traditional Nokia prior to that. I find I annoy myself with the amount of time I spend just fiddling with or looking at nonsense on it. I don't use Facebook so that helps, but I find myself constantly just reading the news, checking email, looking at my Twitter stream (don't post much myself though), checking saved eBay searches, reading this site and so on. Little that is urgent, but I just do it because it's there in my pocket and I succumb too easily. I like having email with me for work and so on, but pretty much everything else on the phone I could live without.
So I am considering going back to a non-smart Nokia (they still make new S40 phones which will do email, or maybe find an older model on ebay) and getting an iPad to take with me on the occasions I think I'll need more than a phone and basic email, but less than a laptop. Has anyone here done this? Regrets? Or has it given you a new freedom from device addiction?

I wouldn't go back to a basic phone (had a few with no internet or email capability).
GPS comes in handy too.
Simply don't log in to ttter and fkBork? Or spend more time on them, you're not a female...

Have you tried a smartphone and gone back, or have you just stuck with it through the years?
I've got an iPhone sat in my desk at work. Just didn't really get on with it. I have an iPad and nexus 7 with me a lot of the time though and I'd be lost without them; the nexus especially.I was playing with a customers ipod the other day and i did wonder how apple justify the the additional £400 to add a bit of phone technology and a sim card reader to an ipod to make it into an iphone when a basic phone can be bought for £10.
Smartphones have their uses but they have become very intrusive, and certainly add to the "must have an answer now" ethos of business these days.

I am lazy so borrowed this photo via google
I have used a Nokia 7110 as my phone for the past 2 years
Great signal, long battery life and works as a phone
When at home or work the internet is available to me, haven't yet been in the position that I required a smart phone
Looks near identical to this (Nokia 8110 from the Matrix).I have used a Nokia 7110 as my phone for the past 2 years
