3 and tethering changes
Discussion
I'm in the same position - the staff in the 3 store in Exeter reckoned that 3 would contact me in January regarding removal of the unlimited tethering, but six weeks on, no call. I can upgrade in two week's time but I think I'll wait a few months and save up to buy a 64GB iPhone 6 outright.
Well I've been contacted
Letter came through last week, so I popped into the local 3 store yesterday to get the craic. Basically 3 will tear up the contract we have in July, no more £15 a month unlimited tethering.
The shop guy did suggest ringing 3 themselves so I managed to patch through a call to deli and speak to my "advisor" who simply offered a new sim only deal;
All you can eat data with 4gb of tethering, 600 free mins for £22 PCM.
After being with 3 for 8 or so years I'm a bit pissed off unfortunately. I regularly use around 8-10gb a month though I have no idea how much of that is tethering. I'd imagine quite a bit-we use it to watch the odd iPlayer or YouTube video on our smart tv and obviously for all my iPad usage.
Is there any work around this?

Speaking to a colleague and O2 have done the same, I can understand why with phone networks providing more data the networks will likely struggle if everyone is tethering. Well if 3 are stopping the unlimited tethering in july i want to take advantage,what uses a st load of data? once the tethering has finished ill leave 3, i was on o2 for a few years and there service was just crap, no 3g where i lived and the signal was really bad,i went to 3 and it was amazing, i had 3g everywhere and phone signal. Now 4g is everywhere except the area i live and the 3g is crap, 3 have dropped the ball,who else to go to though?

I just got a pay as you go sim for all networks, and checked the signal everywhere before i signed up. (disclaimer: i nver paid a penny for sims)LaurasOtherHalf said:

Canonical were going to take this even further with an OS which would automatically reconfigure smartphones into a PC when external monitors and keyboards were connected. Unfortunately they decided to drop the project.
Microsoft just announced they're going to do this with the Windows Phone and Windows 10. They're calling it Continuum. Who'd have thought MS were going to be so exciting in the coming year...Canonical were going to take this even further with an OS which would automatically reconfigure smartphones into a PC when external monitors and keyboards were connected. Watching this thread with interest as I'm currently a 3 customer on the SIM-only One Plan. I don't tether often but when I do it's likely that ill go over 4gb.
