Yes, within one week mine was bent, the screen was covered in scratches and there was a dent on one corner where it landed on a hard surface and split the phone open.

Also the front facing camera isn't central in the aperture (it's offset to the left).
I don't really think you've been looking after yours to well, scratches in the first week, dents from dropping and a split. Sounds like your fault not the phones. I've had mine since release, not dints or scratches and I work outside all day and use my phone a lot. Also rattles about in bouncy machines all day without a problem. Just takes common sense to look after it a bit, esp after spending ~£600 on it. I can see how they bend easy but scratches and dents are pure user error, end of. And no wonder your camera is offset if you've dropped it on a hard surface with enough force to crack the body!!
Thanks for your concern, but I look after my phone however I choose.
Which is of course your choice, but if you treat it like st don't grizzle when you break it.
No grizzling here. Someone asked a question, I answered it.

Mine and the ah are both still perfect. Unlike the 4 which slipped out of shirt pocket within a week and shattered the rear glass.

2. Does it really matter? Does it seriously affect the form of the phone or its bending in the slightest?
Well it clearly effects the form, as thats what this topic is abou.

Noticed the other day that my phone has a slight bend at the volume rocker. I was under the impression that the issues were limited to the much larger iPhone 6.

As usual, Apple customer service and warranty is top notch and have promised to replace it once I've backed everything up. But it's no excuse for a top tier premium phone to bend in your pocket during normal use.

Anyone else got the same issues?

It's difficult to spot at first, but if you hold the edge of the phone on a flat surface at an angle then it should be completely flush.
Can I ask - how bent ?
did Apple just offer to replace - no questions ?
reason I ask is that I've noticed my phone has got a slight bend to it;
it's been in a case since I got it (new, from the Apple shop) and has no scratches marks anywhere
Quite surprised to see a bend in it today!

Sorry, procrastination has got the better of me. I went in and they said they would replace it (I took it back home to back stuff up). Wether that actually happens it not is a different story. I'll update the thread when i bother to get out the house and replace it.

Just an update following my bent Iphone 6 which was about 20 Degree's in the biddle. Took it to apple and said it was in my pocket with my car keys, no other questions asked they replaced it free of charge for a brand new unit.

I have a HTC One M8. Also of alu construction. Its straight as an arrow. It is possible to build a robust phone out of a soft metal, but people are far too concerned with things being a couple of mm thinner and a few grams lighter. Like they'd really be able to tell the difference.

This is why I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. 9 months and still looks new and goes in front and back pocket with abandon.

My wife has had her 6+ since launch day, it's not bent or scratched, but then again she looks after it.
It's a near enough £800 gadget and needs to be treated with a bit of care, although accidents do happen so it's insured too.
I've had my 5s since Christmas 2014, again not a scratch or dent to be seen.

That said, my brother in law managed to bend his iPhone 6 on the day he got it.
It fell out of his pocket just as he was closing the car door so it does bend if you close a Mondeo door on it (mk 4 Mondeo Titanium X 2.5t, well this is PH!).

I think aluminium is an odd choice of material for a phone. I can understand the 'ooh, shiny!' decision to use it but in terms of practicality, durability and longevity it seems it's more towards the melting end of the chocolate teapot scale. This isn't purely aimed at Apple as Samsung, HTC and pretty much every other manufacturer seem to have an aluminium product now. Surely, research and development in rock solid polycarbonates would be better for the ultimate in portable devices?

I've had an iPhone for nearly 8 years (anything from a 3GS to the 6+) and haven't bent one, cracked a screen or done anything else remotely linked to the material it was made from.

The only problem I've had was with my 4S when the lock button stopped working.

One of the first things that occurred to be about the 6 was that it might bend. I have a 4S which sometimes digs into my thigh if it's in the pocket of my jeans when I'm driving. A 6 would surely experience more pressure due to having a larger surface area and be less resistant to said pressure on account of being thinner. This is why I still have a 4S. I'd like to update my tech but until they make a 'mini' version of the 6 I'll give it a miss.

That's cool but it seems that quite a few people with aluminium-bodied phones have.

But when you look at the sheer amount of iPhone's sold to date (over 600m since 2007) the percentage with problems is probably insanely small.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Apple 'fanboy' - the iPhone is the only Apple product I own. I fell into the iPhone trap because of work and have never been bothered to claw my way out.

But one thing I will say about them, from my experience and in my opinion, is that the build quality is second to none.
