I miss the days when Nokia knew what they were doing. Even Lumias with Android would have been brilliant.
You might not have to wait that long. They may be making android handsets as of next year.

Hi Muff - just a quick question re the Edge I'd love your thoughts on. Do the edges make the edge of screen slightly distorted if you're looking at photos or whatnot? In all the shots I've seen it seems to give a slight effect. Or does it just look as if you're viewing a normal S6 screen in terms of flatness?

Cheers

smile
Completely missed this. Hopefully you have used one now so already know the answer. Don't see any distortion. The edge also makea the bezel disappear when watching videos.

I picked an edge up a week or so ago, got to say I'm loving it, I went iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4G then Lumia 1020 got to say this beats the Lumia and iPhones hands down, I know there different tech but I've used the latest iPhones and wasn't impressed, felt a bit same same..

Using the phone seems so much more "ergonomic" to use and hold, being able to scroll the screen on the edge is pretty nice as well, I think having the curve means your fingers can reach that bit further.

Camera seems excellent, really quick to load up ready to take pictures.

Battery life seems good, easily lasting all day with phone calls and general messing.

Don't think anyone would be disappointed if they got one.

Only down side is the cost!! And cases and screen protectors are lacking due to the screen but who wants to cover up all the beauty of this phone.

Just gone from an S5 to 64Gb S6. Not bothered about SD card myself - it was a pain to be honest when mated with 16gb internal. 64gb internal UFS memory is far superior to an SD card right now.

The screen is... well, just incredible. The S5 had one of the best screens on a mobile phone ever, and the S6 screen is visibly superior. It's stunning, really. The build quality is amazing too. It's absolutely gorgeous. The battery life is okay, not bad and not amazing but the fast charge is incredible. Ten minute charge gives 4 hours usage according to Sammy. The camera starts up so fast and the pictures are just amazing. And the fingerprint reader is miles ahead of the one on my S5.

I really love it. It has some annoying niggles right now, but they are all software based and hopefully they can be ironed out.

Hi,

anyone finding the battery life no more than average should check out what google accounts are syncing, and other accounts. And look for what location services are doing behind scenes too. I turned off any thing I wasn't using and now my battery life is a lot better. Also I've read that with the 5.1 update that we should get in June there will be varies OS fixes that will help battery and performance. Battery fixed by stopping a google play bug and performance by fixing a ram problem. More info on android forums if your interested.

I switched from an iPhone 6 to the S6 a few weeks ago and I love it. Great camera, fantastic screen. I really like all the google apps and I've also now got a Chromebook, chromecast, play music and a Hudl2. So well into the google/android system and love it.

Has anybody found a way to change the battery if it goes kaput?

Goes kaput in what way?

On the one hand I see the appeal of a removable battery but then I think I haven't had a phone with a removable battery in about 6 years and I really haven't missed it.

I'm really, really tempted by this phone. I've never really liked touchwiz though, I'm wondering if it's worth putting up with...

Hopefully a nice shiny S6 will be waiting for me when I get home smile I'm upgrading from a Nexus 4 and just hope it's worth the hype!
The touchwiz stuff can be pretty much bypassed if you download the Google Now launcher (will be my first job as I love the raw Android experience).
I quite fancy wireless charging so looking into a Qi (or whatever the other standard is called) charger, any recommendations?

PS for sale Nexus 4 smile

In the failing to work way. Like the one in my current S4 that's stopped working.

So it's now £45 from Samsung, unlike the few quid from EBay that I've used several times over the years.

I think the word I'm looking for is boo.

And I'm still out.

I am about to change phones and was wondering if anyone can shed any opinions on S6 vs iPhone 6 64gb. (iphone 5 at the moment) They seem close, unless anyone knows difference? Pricing is pretty similar, best deals I have found with 4-5GB data:

EE Iphone up front £169.99 monthly £31.99 2 yr total £937.75

EE S6 up front £249.99 monthly £29.99 2 yr total £969.75

thanks

Never had an adnroid phone so I don't have any prejudices either way.

My use is pretty typical I think - email, browsing, photos, google drive, twitter, a few financial trading apps, sat nav. Am tempted to go down the Samsung route just for a change

Yes, the s6 is a big jump in quality from the previous ones.
However, one thing I did notice is that with a curved edge the viewing angle when in daylight or bright light reflects along the curve making it impossible to see the curved part screen! You have to rock the phone from left-right so the line of reflection moves out of the way.

I can't help thinking that it is just another sales gimmick, to sell more phones rather than invent something new and useful.

And the case with flip plastic front is £50 and is a bit tacky.

The white lines down the side, they are always reflecting at a different angle to the flat part. But annoying

I'm looking at upgrading my s4 this week to the s6 but can only find the black ones to look at, any suggestions regarding the colour options? Read that the gold and black just get covered in finger prints but worried the white one will look a bit plastic and tacky.

Does anybody know when the blue version will be available with vodafone?

I've said it before, but grab them both to see. Nothing about them is close but the price . The ip 6 feels very old hat compared to the sgs6. The screen and the camera for example aren't é even playing in the same league.

Hey you lot,

Are these phones good? I fancy getting one, to upgrade from my Nex5 - but I'm not sure I can deal with another samsung phone if they still feel rubbish.

Thoughts from those of you who have one?

Are they packed full of apps that can't be deleted like my s4 is? Or can you get them with a clean, almost empty android install where I can install what I want?

That is a lovely looking handset and with this generation of @ phones Samsung is making it very difficult to not be tempted from HTC!
