I use office outlook to download / send my emails, it now won't send any emails because i need to verify the email address, according to the error box that comes up. the interweb only seems to tell you how to do it it in outlook.com which i presume must be slightly different to the outlook i have The error message is ... cannot send the message, verify the email address in you account properties, the server responded 30 authentication required (VM 401)

Anyone any ideas on how to sort this ?

Thanks

Steve

You haven't said what type of mail account this is so I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say your ISP is now requiring SMTP authentication

look for the version that matches your outlook in the link below - this assumes they (your isp) use standard settings

Thanks for that, i tried what it said which made it worse ! no inbound email either, so i looked again and noticed there was nothing in the outgoing server user name and password, put those in and now it works again ..... how did that change, it's worked for years ......

I take it you use an outlook client to send email to/from your PC.
Who is your mail provider and how is your email sent/receive from your client POP3/IMAP? something else?
