What type of watch is it if £680 was the service bill?
Did it need a few replacement parts?
Yes, it was the Apple Store when I was ordering it.Did it need a few replacement parts?
It's an original Omega Speedmaster - it's a topic for a different thread as it's highly annoying. I had it serviced about 4 years ago when it was passed to me, when it came back it was very hard to wind up which I thought was just part of the course - now I've met someone else with one and the winding mechanism is totally different - and they won't look at it without the 'service' as its gone past 2 years.
I've had one of those for three years from new and it's very stiff to wind. It always has been. It works perfectly though.
And I'm just about to send a Longines off to Joe to do some work

Still off topic but I thought it might help Petrus.

Thanks. It does work perfectly, I just need a towel to wind it!I've had one of those for three years from new and it's very stiff to wind. It always has been. It works perfectly though.

On topic, it's provided the perfect excuse to buy an iWatch, and once it arrives hopefully I can cheaply sort the Speedmaster!

Been an apple fan boy since the original iMac followed by most versions of the iPod, MacBook Pro's and every iPhone available since but I have had no interest or desire what so ever to order the new iWatch.
Same here, I have no use for one and fear it will become an expensive ornament once the novelty has worn off. jogon said:

Me too. Although having seen it in the flesh it really does look good, until it becomes a stand alone device with a SIM card in it I cannot see the point in it. steve_bmw said:

Same here, I have no use for one and fear it will become an expensive ornament once the novelty has worn off. Will never buy one for 3 reasons.
1. I've lasted 33 years without giving Apple a dollar of my money and intend to stick to it.
2. I bought an original Sony smart watch a few years ago. I wore it for a week and everyone laughed at me. Threw it in a drawer and it's stayed there.
3. I think society is getting far too addicted to being connected. Myself included. It really is anti social behaviour that I'm trying to break out of.

Now that their watch is available, Apple are suddenly getting picky about iOS apps that mention Pebble watch support http://www.slashgear.com/apple-rejecting-pebble-ap...

Oh dear :/As I've stated time and time again, they make great gear at an admittedly elevated prize, but if you go in bed with them you really, really have to be committed to buy all your tech from them.
Android Wear is a great initiative with plenty of choice available, and it could benefit greatly from iOS integration. Which now seems a bit less likely...

I read that, don't get their teardowns of smartwatches. Who's going to take it apart?https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Apple+Watch+Teardo...
Maybe just the battery replacement. But then again, the battery should easily last 3 years, by which time this has been made obsolete about 3 times?

My Rolex was about £450 to service.
I love it but I don't wear it any more. I wear the Pebble Steel and will wear the Apple Watch.
I'll probably use the Rolex for social occasions as it will prevent me from responding to Notifications whilst at them. This is a good thing when trying to be polite.
