One thing to be aware of about the 12" MacBook is that with its ultra short key movement, the keyboard is quite vulnerable to getting gummed up.

I spilled some beer on mine a couple of months back and it hasn't really been the same since. Mostly it still works perfectly well, but some keys are still a bit sticky, and when the weather is humid they feel very dead.

Don't drink and browse wink

The force touch pad on my Macbook Pro hasn't been the same since I spilt some tabasco sauce on it, i suppose the edges have a tiny gap? In any case tech like this is a lot more fragile than we think.

After my previous comments about the rMB I've now decided to sell it after using it a few times; I really like it but I'm so used to the MBA keyboard and find that I use my iPad more and more that I'm better keeping the Air and connecting up to my external monitor.

If there is anybody interested in my retina MB (Space grey) PM me.

Those of you who bought their MacBook early after launch may be eligible for a replacement USB-C cable - http://www.apple.com/support/usbc-chargecable/

Wow, how cool - my cable stopped working properly the other day; it only charges properly if you plug it in one way up.

Quelle surprise - Apple in dodgy power cable shocker....

I'll be looking to replace my 2011 Macbook Air later this year and am seriously considering something other than Apple, especially as I look at the tatty, frayed power cable hanging from the machine - the second supply this laptop has had...so keeping up with my previous Macbook Pro.

Have loved my Mac laptops since I bought a G4 when they came out. But every single one has been plagued with piss poor power supply design.

hehe My magsafe connections have been much more reliable and convenient than colleagues' dell & hp laptops.
They may not be perfect, but still way better than the competition.

all the genuine apple chargers i've had have been fine. It's the non-genuine ones that are crap.

Anyone know when there will be an update on the MacBook?

I imagine there will be a small update in the next few months.

With regards to power adaptors I think I have been lucky, my 2007 MacBook's magsafe power lead was still fine after 4 years of heavy usage and my 2015 MacBook USB-C seems fine.

Retina screen Air would be nice....but no sweat if not as the Macbook Pro is a decent spec. (If I can get over my moan on power supplies!)

If anyone is looking to swap their 1.2ghz Macbook and go for a 15" mid 2015 macbook pro (£2249 6 months ago), I'm looking to downgrade for portability, obviously a bit of cash my way but pm if anyone fancies it!

Fingers crossed for a new rMBP soon. My 2013 Air is still going strong but I'd like something with more oomph for photo editing. I can also gift the Air to the OH which should soften the blow.

After all my prevaricating, I finally sold the brand new MacBook Air 11 I bought in the US and have settled on the rMB. I'm sure I've made the correct decision as once you get used to the retina screen on the rMB going back to the 11" would have been difficult.

What's the spec and how much you looking for?

Finally they've started to appear on the Apple refurb site. I think I'm still going to hold out for the next version though.

I've been using the new MacBook for a month now (having come from an 11" MBA), and I really like it. The screen was my main reason for upgrading, and at first I wasn't sure if it was worth compromising on the CPU but I only really notice it with Excel which takes a second longer to open (so not a major issue). It has taken me a while to get used to the keyboard but I actually quite like it now.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the MacBook (if anything) at the next Apple event which is rumoured to take place either next week or the week after.

Have been looking at the MacBook as can get a discount through work.
Not sure about the whole 1 USB port though.
Anyone used it for basic photo and gopro editing?
