Hard disk for cctv nvr system
Discussion
I've gen a gen 8 proliant micro server which I am trialling for cctv use using ip cameras and blue iris software
First impressions are good
I have a 128 go ssd drive in there running server 2012, this typically records for around 24 hours with the high resolution I want
Now in reality I want to increase the number of cameras and the amount of time it can record
I'm after a disk that is suitable for continual high demand, something like a wd red?
Any other suggestions on disk
The box can do raid etc, but initially I'll probably keep it simple whilst I experiment
Thanks

What's the processor usage like on that? Mate had 4 IP cameras on a Core 2 Quad, which I imagine to be quite a bit faster, and it was pegged at 90% CPU just processing the 4 1080p/25 FPS streams.
He's now using a Gen 7 MicroServer but purely for remote NAS storage for the camera feeds, rather than direct processing. He's also using Blue Iris.
Based on that I imagine you'd get around a month continuous recording (probably at less FPS) with a single 3TB WD Red?
