Minix Neo X8 Plus Android Box

I've always fancied one of these but worry about the risks. Is it not the same as using torrents?
Totally different. Torrents are about downloading software. Can be done on nearly any platform. The Minix devices are small bits of hardware running Android. Very good for connecting up to tvs etc and using as media players.
Have had one for a couple of months. Nice little boxes, very stable and a good alternative to a jail broken ATV2. Streets ahead of trying to use a Raspberry Pi and not too different in cost overall.
Kodi/Xbmc are not only wife friendly but also parent friendly. I just need to figure out how to add services like Netflix to the same interface (I believe Netflix withdrew the API)
On the windows shares problem noted, have you checked the workgroup settings are ok (under SMB client I think). And what security are you using?
Have cocked up in an install of 'sportsdevil'.
Installed it then noticed that there was a install of 'newsportsdevil' which says do not install the old version (which I rushed into !!) as it could cause problems with installing the new version.
Well this is exactly what has happened.
I have uninstalled the old version but it still wont allow me to install the new one.
I am not very clued up on this stuff yet as only got the box yesterday, so if any one has any ideas what to do next please explain in simple terms
Thank you.

Go to settings - apps
Find XBMC in the list, click it and choose the option to clear settings.
When I set mine up I tried all sorts of different skins and add on, once I'd found those I like I did a reset and just setup the stuff I use. Hard to tell but I did think it ran slightly smoother for it.
Guess it depends how buggered it is and how much effort you've put in.
The one called 'newsportsdevil' is the correct one version 1.8.8.0.
Its the old one that I downloaded first that is causing the problem---if I'd read first instead of leaping in I would have seen this mentioned there.
It tell you to clean out the 'package folder' whatever that is so I guess that where the problem is.
Any way Mr Chimp I am blaming you as I had never heard of minix or Kodi a week ago.

Not got round to it myself yet but on the list of things to do, seems a good site for customizing your set up.
