Yes the lack of 5.1 for me is also an issue, there is a bloke on the first page of Navi-x who has plenty movies in 5.1.
I've found them...... but they just go in to buffering........ how do you go about watching these films ?

Ok.... note sure what is going on, as slow buffering even on sd content....... going to try reboot to factory settings

I installed Kodi on my laptop first to play around with, then bought the wee Minix box I linked to in the OP once I was sure it could do a job.

I'm well pleased with the Minix, it was my first time.

I didn't know about Kodi until Mr Chimp put this thread up.

Thank you.

No worries JBudgie thumbup

I have just ordered another one of these wee boxes for the main living room as it has proved quite a hit with Mrs Chimp and Chimp Jr.

It will be replacing my old Western Digital TV Live which is getting a bit clunky.

I also finally got my Synology NAS speaking to the Minix box last night.

I was able to actually see the NAS and the movies/tv shows on it, but Kodi wouldn't scrape the info into it's library and I was not able to show fanart, bios, etc.

I needed to use NFS and enable SSH on my NS to get this to work - followed a YouTube how to video and it was then reasonably straightforward.

All movies and TV shows now showing as separate menu items with full bios, ratings, etc. Very slick, and much quicker than my old WD TV Live box.

I also installed the VDubT25 add-in as it has some pretty good, reliable sports feeds.

If you want wife -friendly, stick the Yatse remote control on her phone. It's great and makes it dead easy to browse the library and add-ons and get the right stuff on the screen.

I still have a subscription to Live Online Footy that costs me £6 a month, not free, but I get all the sports in full HD, no issues at all. If you have it it'll run on XBMC under the Live Streams add-on if you follow the instructions.

For everything other than sports I have an RSS torrent stream and some software that copies it all to the server automatically, which is much more reliable than trying to stream, though you usually have to wait a day or so to watch something.

For an even more wife friendy setup have a look at this video.
iVue TV guide shows an on-screen programme guide, selecting a programme launches the appropriate addon tuned to the right stream. It requires the Filmon addon to be installed for the Freeview channels.

How can I get this?

Is it still closed?

When watching the sports channels after about 20 mins or so it will start to buffer or cut out completely.

Will come back when restarted, but for only about 20 mins again?

Does anyone else get this ?

Have a look also at the LiveTV! app shows all BBC, ITV, C4 etc and has a section for kids where you can get cbeebies and cbbc. I use this app all the time as I live in the Philippines, I just need a decent reliable app for Sky F1?

I don't know, I'm not aware that it's ever opened to new subscribers since the various shut-downs. But then I wouldn't know as I've already got an account.

If you PM me I'll tell you where the site moved to and you can have a look, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I'm not recommendIng it, no idea how good it is at all but I read somewhere today that a site called SportsDonkey is doing subscription stuff, £50 a year.

Thought I would post an update having had this box for a couple of months now and sacking Sky. It took me quite a while getting use to the system and finding decent apps. But now after a bit of learning and searching I have a brilliant set up that delivers HD quality entertainment from films through to the latest sport.

Great to hear, I can only concur.

I use it with the family to watch boxsets (currently introducing our 14 year old daughter to Lost), Mrs Chimp uses it to watch Through the Wormhole & Ancient Aliens documentaries, I was watching the first episode of "new" top gear last night (i.e. Clarkson & Hammond, pre James May) and I watched the Manu U game on NBC yesterday, Live stream.

Friday night, Mrs Chimp and I watched The Equalizer and I see Straight Outta Compton is now i a watchable state...

Great wee box, although we DO still run the basic Sky package for ease of recording, etc.

is the software pre-installed to access the channels?

Some of it is, but some of the better add-ons are not so you will need to add them manually - pretty straightforward and loads of guides on line to show you.

Which add-ons are you using?

I'm currently using Genesis for TV / movies but I'd particularly love to get a decent sports add-on for live streaming.

Dextertv seems about the best for live sport at the moment.

I actually find Showbox better than anything Kodi has to offer for films & tv - everything just works first time of asking
