We use a four channel CCTV system at work and for the last three years it has worked fine. Our service contract with the CCTV company has just expired and amazingly the DVR has gone dead. It looks like the hard drive on the DVR is faulty. Is it relatively simple to go to the bay and get a known make CCTV hard drive for about £30 and do the change yourself? Margins are tight and the CCTV company is usually around £350+VAT per visit.

Yes very easy, usually a couple of screws hold the cover on, the hard drive is usually screwed to the base, then 2 cables to disconnect.

Re-assembly is the opposite of removal.

You will most likely then need to go into the settings to format the hard drive before it will start recording.

It's almost certainly going to be a standard hard drive, so as long as you get one of comparable or greater size, speed, etc you'll be fine.
