I'm taking my GT86 with a few mates over to Europe in 4 weeks. I have a Go pro 4 (&1) and would like to be able to mount it in the car. So I am able to record some more of the interesting roads and surrounding areas over the weeks trip.

I Have the sucker mount and also a roll bar mount that I use on the bike or kitcar.

But was hoping to get some ideas on how best to get a good view from using the Go Pro inside the car. has anyone used a Go Pro from inside the car and how best to get a good angle? I would rather use it inside the car so I am able to use the USb power so I don't have to reply on just batteries.

I did used my old Go pro suckered onto the back window of a mates car when he was at a drift event but this came out very dark.

IS their anything mount you can get that may come in handy.

I have tried to use the sucker on the front window but unless I used 3-4 joiners it hits the front screen.

Any links to sites or ideas would be great

cheers for reading

This is a short vid I took in my mates car, it'll give you an idea of what a headrest mount would look like.

I'd suggest an external mic if it's possible for your cam, my friend drives a C63 AMG which sounds great, but it doesn't really translate on the vid!

I'll have a play with what I have and look at ram mounts and other places such as the headrest mounting also.

Just wanted to get a heads up on suggestions on places to try to mount the go pro before I go

cheers

I've tried gopro on rear window in my old gt86, plenty light enough I thought and a decent view - however I've since found there a 'spot' setting in go pro for such recording which may have improved the image.. Never got round to trying it again though

Also like the arch humps view from mounting on windscreen smile

I second an external mike. The built in one isn't very good at all.

I went skiing with a Go Pro stuck to my helmet like a miner's light. It's quite fun to review the footage on a laptop later, once you're back in the hotel. biggrin

cheers for that.

I have many different mounts I tried over the weekend but many are to bulky for the Go Pro.

I did not try mounting it to the rear windscreen and will try that but found mounting it to the passenger window was good. easy to move on the go and the video (set to 1080p 60FPS) gave me a good view of both wing mirrors and forward facing.

What would people suggest using setting wise. I would be trying 1080p and either using 30,40,60 or 80FPS. Unsure what would be best.
My New macbook is able to run 4k on the 30FPS. but it seems daft when I don't have 4k tv. Why I would be happy with 1080p.

If I am using the go pro housing and open back door (Fnarrrr) where would best to use a external mike and would it make that much of a difference ?

Alot of people use Go-pros in club motorsport, most have them set to spot mode, makes a good difference!
