I have googled without success, so now asking here.

We have email via an exchange server which allows both Outlook 2007 and a Web interface to collect emails - our 1st line IT support couldn't help - 2nd line could be in about 2 weeks for a response.

The password is fine via Web interface (and every two trys of Outlook I've got them to log on and off web version), but in their wisdom someone tried to access an email address that they use within someone elses Outlook profile while demonstrating the ability to open different profiles that they have available to them and now the email isn't getting downloaded to Outlook 2007, and the password is not getting saved either.

I suspect something is corrupted in the profile somewhere, we have an archive folder saved on our server that I would not want to lose and so long as I've got that, I don't see why we shouldn't just reset the whole thing. Anyone come across this one or have any ideas for getting Outlook 2007 to accept password and download emails again?

Trying to sort this out before 4pm as I'm about to go on leave and I'm the only half techie (reasonable user, non programmer) person onsite for about a week.

I wouldn't waste your time trying to fault find it. Delete the profile and start again.

Is it sorted now then? If not, then I suggest your IT bods run all Windows Updates and install the latest Office 2007 service pack. I had a problem with a couple of Outlook 2007 machines failing to accept and save passwords until all the updates went on.

I've a couple of staff who share a computer & a job, but have different profiles for their own email addresses. One was trying to demonstrate this on a computer that only has one profile and ended up entering email username details on a password screen for the profile. Of course that then broke it.

I tried adding the profile in question, but it was 'already in use', so did as suggested, deleted the profile and then added it again and things are back working.
