I quite like the look of that Rog Dominator, but the issue is Freesync forces me down the AMD route doesn't it?

I'd rather flick over to a cooler Nvidia card if I'm honest. Although that plud a 295x2 does look tempting doesn't it?

This TN looks tempting too mind: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prod...

A lot of people seem to be having issues with those Acer monitors on the overclockers forum (dead pixels mainly)

Just over 3 metres from the screen. Enough to fill my field of view but no so big that I have to turn my head or can see any pixels. In fact you'd be surprised how close you can get before it starts getting fuzzy but I'm not sure if projector\screens work in the same way as monitors.

I will be picking up a monitor as well though and I've also settled on 27". What panel do they use on Apple monitors as they always look absolutely fantastic? Although I'm not sure about response times etc.

After a lot of thought, I think I'm swaying towards IPS. I think I'll appreciate the colours and viewing angle. I'll just have to accept the 3-4ms response loss if I go for online FPS.

I really hate how monitors are all locking down the AMD / Nvidia route now though.

4ms is nothing, a lot of TV's have over 30ms and that's just fine. IPS monitors are so much nicer in every other way.

edit: ms instead of s

I'd agree, anything less than 15 even 20ms will be just fine. Anyone who thinks they can tell the difference between 1ms and 4ms is lying or has the reaction speed of a spider.

I've 4 27" 1920x1080 monitors on my desktop in a square. Mind you, I can't see out of the window now !

Apple use the lg panels(same as dell) So a 27 inch ultrasharp will be comparable(exactly the same).

Aren't the ultrasharps finished in matt by default thought?

Also, the connections on the ultrasharp are insane. There's like 7 ways to hook up devices to some of them biggrin.

Was going to ask about that, an eye blink is 200/300ms so I'm not sure how you'd notice the difference between 1 or 4 or even 50? Or is it more than that?

You get image blur during motion. A TV isn't fine as a gaming monitor IMO although some people will think it's ok. Try playing a twitch shooter on a monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time then swap that for a TV and play the same game, it will look awful. I do think 5/6ms response time is ok but I don't play many competitive FPS games.

It's a bit like gaming at 30FPS. If that's all you have ever done it's looks fine, but if you are used to 60+FPS it looks like a slideshow ..
