Hi all, I'm in the need for a new router. I believe due to my ISP I need an ADSL modem router??? I currently have a Netgear DGN2200 which has died.

Most items I have in the house are Apple so I'd like to go with an Apple product if possible but I seem to recall when I looked a few years back that they didn't do what I need.

Other than Apple, could someone suggest a good router make which will hook up nicely to my Apple TV and stream my MBP well?

Cheers for any advice guys!

If you like, I could get a white router off Amazon, stick the Apple logo on it and sell it to you for £500 if that'd help?

Hi, I've got one or two spare ADSL routers - can post one to you?

I've got a DGN3500, which has gigabit ports as opposed to the 10/10s on your old 2200?

Email me via my profile, happy for you to cover post and its yours.

Apple Airport Extreme does what you need, unless you have fibre, in which case, you need a fibre modem too.

Cheers, but apparently I would still need a modem according to the Apple support chat thingy.

Correct, no flavours of AP Express or Extreme offer a built-in ADSL/VDSL modem, they are router only.

Audi - mail received, will get in the post tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

Greg.

I'm a big TP Link fan as well. Have bought stloads of their stuff. Ugly as sin and cheap looking but are excellent at what they do. Of all the ones I've bought I've never had a problem with any. Compare that to the crap I endure with other brands it is amazing.

I hope I am not stepping on toes here, got one quick question.
I am with plusnet fibre with router and a modem,if I was to replace the wireless router with an apple AirPort Extreme
Would that work without too much effort as the supplied one by plusnet doesn't reach quiet everywhere in the flat.

I would say almost certainly. Been an AirPort user for wireless for a while now.

I've just googled this as I'm in the same boat. This seems to suggest it's possible :

I'll stick my neck out - of course it is. You just need to set the AirPort to Bridge Mode, and then give it the IP address of your existing router. It's how my home network is set up - my BT Infinity Home Hub is just a modem as I've disabled the wifi on it.

I got the Archer D9, easily the best router I have had to date, doesn't drop out, maintains the throughput and reliable.
Link to Amazon, but I got mine for around £100 from CCL computers.

If appearance on a router is important to you, not bad in my opinion, I've had worse, to use an expression!
