Windows app to show hard disk activity ?
Discussion
I have a new work laptop and Dell in their wisdom have hidden the disk activity light on the front where I cant see it. It takes about 10 minutes to fire up and if I try to use it before then it just causes issues, runs slowly and can crash.
With my old laptop I just waited until the disk stopped thrashing then knew it was ready for use but on this new one I cant see the light.
Does anyone know of a Windows 7 app that will put a hard disk icon on the screen or toolbar that mirrors the light ?

You probably want a sidebar widget something like this one: http://www.myfavoritegadgets.info/monitors/DrivesM...
You are unlikely to find one that flashes like your HDD light, but you could find one that plots disk queue length.

If you're allowed to install software on a work machine then I can recommend Soluto for diagnosing startup issues. It'll tell you what's loading and how long it's taking.

I already have soluto, doesnt help its just a cheap laptop and it grinds along in its own time. Resource monitor I could use but I really need something on the screen all the time so I know when its gone into meltdown and its time to go and have a coffee while it sorts itself out
ETA I installed that widget and its perfect thanks :-) PH to the rescue again!
