Groovy music is pissing me off.

Groovy even.

Plus I haven't got the same smaller resolution I used to have. It all seems very large & in my face. I can't change the resolution to under 100%. On my 22" screen two foot from my face it's too large.

I'm thinking about going back to 7

Why not just use something different to play music? You're the second person I've seen talking about junking the entire OS because of a trivial application. Utterly absurd; just use something else for audio...

What a daft thing to do. I started the update at 11:30pm I am now staying up waiting for it to finish! sleep
I just cloned my drive and tested it works (it does) so I have something to recover from if the upgrade has issues. Was happy to wing it on the laptop but the PC's a bit more important! I'll be running the upgrade tomorrow...

I just let mine work overnight and it has been fine. If it doesn't work, find out when you wake up and worry then wink

Sod's law but I had to do a rebuild a few days ago, so I've presumably been shoved to the bottom of the release pile.
irked

Really want to avoid forcing the manual install. No purpose for this post other than to moan.

Has anyone tried their Steam library in Win10?

Thanks.
Yes albeit only locally installing one game. The rest I'm streaming from my desktop to laptop (I've been running Win 10 pre-release on the desktop for months). Haven't noticed any issues.

Wow, the good news just keeps coming on W10.

I initially thought it had disabled/broken the scroll function on my touchpad. In fact it has enabled the 'two fingers to scroll' thing (which it never had before!)

On top of which the thing is much more responsive and just nicer to use.

Not bad for the cheapest laptop in PC World 4/5 years ago. I think it'll last me another few years.

Yay, i was trying to find a solution to the same problem on mine. Have to retrain my fingers now
Oh the irony. I just looked in here to see what people thought and that was the first post I saw. Win10 fails to 'see' the clickpad or whatever HP call it and the settings menu crashes when I go to mouse/ pointer properties. Only way I can fix is to remove and re-install the driver. Had to do it twice now.

Other than that it seems no different, maybe slower. I KNEW I'd regret it!

My machine is running faster, start up has lost a couple seconds, from >10 to <8.

Since I assume everyone is using that manual upgrade tool (still waiting for the 'automatic' upgrade and/or notification in Windows Update etc.) I tried it on my spare Windows 7 machine, which went all fine and and well, now running Windows 10 and activated

As for Cortana, it's never worked yet on my main Win 10 machine (running since the technical preview) despite being set to a supported language but much to my shock is working straight away on the machine I just upgraded.

Here's the simplest way to force the install:

1.Locate the registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\ OSUpgrade]

2.It should exist, but if not, create it.

3.Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with Name = "AllowOSUpgrade” (without the quotes), and set the Value = 0x00000001.

Once the registry key is modified, close and reopen the desktop Control Panel, go to Windows Update and check for updates. You should now be able to click the Get Started button to upgrade to Windows 10

No need to mess with any of that, just run this http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/w...

bounce Thanks everyone bow I am now speaking to you live from Windows 10.

I like it, it like it a lot. Could this be the new XP? Now addicted to the "Solitaire games collection". Takes some finding for some items as they as moved or renamed.

Only slight fault was when it restarted it did not find my external mouse (running from laptop) but after a restart and plug out/plug in it is now working fine.

Got to sleep about 3am!

So if I were to download it on my W7 machine, get the product key, grab a new SSD and put W10 on it as a fresh install, could I then use my W7 key on my other machine that currently runs XP?

No - it's a free upgrade, not a free copy of windows.

Just like if you part-ex your car for a new one, you don't get to keep the old car smile

So, here's my end of upgrade weekend report..

1) My former gaming PC with NVidia GTX250 - upgraded without a hitch.

2) Laptop that has been running the Tech Preview since build 10074 - upgraded to 10240 (which was the RTM version) a couple of weeks back - installed day 1 patch yesterday - upgraded without a hitch.

3) Current gaming PC upgraded quickly and without major issue, had some driver difficulty with the NVidia GTX980, but that only required a couple of reboots to correct itself. Now running very quickly, boots even faster then 8.1, which is saying something.
Every game I've run so far has worked (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 4, the Crew)

4) Surface Pro 3 - upgraded faultlessly, but it does feel like it is going through battery much quicker than before.
I'm also struggling with using Edge as a touch browser, as are others on this thread.
I can cope with menus scrolling in different directions and other gestures that I'm used to changing, I know I'll get used to them, but browsing the web is really much, much worse now. Microsoft really need to get swipe to go back added to edge quickly.

BTW - if you want anything to change, use the feedback app - there's loads of threads on there asking for better tablet mode. Add your voice, they do seem to be listening. You have me to thank for the Home button in edge smile

Across two HPs (well, a Compaq and an HP) I haven't had that problem. It's merely improved the touchpad functionality.

It doesn't bother me too much since I almost always use a mouse anyway, but it's a nice feature.

Read my post on the last page. There's a link to a key extractor.

I did a fresh install without even needing the key.

If you have already upgraded you can reboot into "advanced startup" then somewhere in there is the option to repair the installation.

I did this and selected the option to repair without keeping any settings or files.

I was never asked for the product key and now have a clean install of Windows 10.

Forced the install this afternoon and it went smoothly. Certainly seems quicker.
