Windows 10 upgrade notification

Great, except it's not faster than Windows 7 though
Depends by what you mean faster. Once a job on W7 has exceeded the max possible ram that can be accessed and you have to go out of core, W10 will absolutely muller it. The job scheduler in W7 isn't designed for the latest 14+ core Xeons either and is roughly 10% slower compared to 10.Ok, so I've done a couple of straight updates.
Now however, I have a Windows 8.1 (which is a update of a 7 in it's own), I want a clean install as I'm installing a brand new SSD in it.
So I'm creating the media: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-10/medi...
But how do I find my current key? Or can I use the original Win 7 key?

Upgraded the other night, absolutely no problems what so ever, actually quite impressed : Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro
My oldest (13 y/o) updated his laptop a few weeks back. No problems at all .... he's claiming that he much prefers it to his prior Win8.1 install (its a Lenovo i3-4000M laptop, it did have a start button replacement on 8.1).My tablet is running a LOT better on W10 than it ever did on W8.1. I did have a mild dislike of it early on, but it is growing on me.

I tried to do that. Ended up having to upgrade the old disk, run Jellybean Keyfinder to get the new Win10 licence key, and the put the new drive in, install Win10 from the USB key, and enter the code I got from the other disk.
Thanks for the heads up, I went this route and installation is progressing .Now, I've got a half decent 128GB mSSD, anyone can advise a good case/enclosure for not too much money?
I went with: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-USB-3-0-to-mSATA-SS...
Seems ok
Assuming that you mean mSATA when you say mSSD ?

Was looking local but they're all ridiculous money, going with one on Amazon I guess.

I had the WiFi issue on a Dell XPS.
I think I fixed it by changing the driver...
If you go in to the device manager where you would update the driver, but instead choose to install a new one. There were 2 compatible drivers in the list, so I changed to the one it wasn't using. Seemed to work.
Same here; Dell XPS 13 on 8.1, went to 10, it was unhappy after waking from sleep. I upgraded to the latest (4 day old) driver from Dell. Despite the release notes not mentioning anything specific, it resolved the issue.I think I fixed it by changing the driver...

Hiya,
I am having THE most problems with my Surface 3 since installing Windows 10. I'd try to list the things that are going wrong, but it's practically everything. Browsers (Edge and Chrome) stick, judder, close, at random. Bluetooth mouse & clip on keyboard go missing at regular intervals, complete loss of sound, random icons appear and disappear on my desktop without warning, Windows mail was entirely inoperable for days etc etc. It's made the device (which I use to run my business) almost unuseable. Has anyone else had these issues? I took it into my local repair shop, who kept it for a day, before returning it to me saying that they couldn't work out how to roll it back to previous (Win 8?), because the facility to to so did not appear where it does on all other Microsoft devices. I'm getting to the end of my teather - anyone got ANY ideas at all? I'm a total non-techy, but would try pretty much anything now!
Cheers,
Stu.

Spotted something last night. You can configure the lock screen to show info from certain installed apps, so I set the main one to be weather, then configured the weather app so it has my correct location etc. It still doesn't appear on the lock screen though. Am I missing something?
Works for me... I don't think I've done anything unusual...

I'm still waiting for my upgrade notification. I'm going to back everything up before I go for it anyway.
I'd rather do a clean install, so I'll probably do that eventually.
Look back in the thread.I'd rather do a clean install, so I'll probably do that eventually.
You don't need the invite there is a site you can go to
Win 10 works OK, but the default colours are boring as hell & I'm not keen on the flat look either. I had to play around with the settings and managed to change the task bar colour from black, so at least that looks like something now.
I have taken the plunge. It is, indeed, much more consistent than the previews. I've even gone back to overlapping windows, though I didn't miss them on Win8.1.
Like: the 'Flat' look; 3-D was as played out as Lambo doors.
Dislike: the Music app is still st; no NAS drive support. "Because Marketing", no doubt. tts.

should get you a usb recovery image but don't forget this will flatten the device so back your docs up before you flash it.
