Has anyone who owns both the Echo and the Dot found a significant difference in the performance of the microphone? This was something I couldn't test in John Lewis!

A lot of early feedback suggest that it is much harder to make yourself understood to the Dot than it is the Echo.

Certainly, my Dots will not accept commands if there is too much ambient noise (music, TV, hairdryer etc). I was just wondering if the full sized on is any better?

I have no issues with either, or do I notice any difference. Where the device is placed seems to make the biggest difference - it seems to play better in open space.

Thanks. I will move mine around a bit to experiment.

As it will not currently connect to iTunes it will not play my Pink Floyd albums. I have just noticed that Amazon have put all their albums on Amazon Music (Free for Prime subscribers) so your Echo or dot will play the albums. woohoo

Thanks for the heads up. Don't think I've ever listened to a Pink Floyd album; only know the odd song

Shame they are missing quite a lot of Artists.

Would ideally like to have Apple music on it, however I don't think Apple will allow that, so I might have to go down the Spotify route.

As a technophobe I have only just moved away from CD's and gradually bought all my music on itunes...only to then sign up to apple play when the salesman at the apple store showed me how cheap and easy it was when I bought my new iphone.

I am loathe to commit to yet another service in spotify.

I fancy an echo but if it can't play music its largely redundant. To order my ubers seems a tad excessive.

I quite like the shopping list. You can add items to the sopping list, it syncs with your phone, then when at the shops you can just chalk off what you've bought. The beauty of it is you can add things when they run out, our echo is in the kitchen. It has also made the kitchen Sonos largely redundant.

I find myself arguing with my Dot when trying to add mutliple items to my shopping list; she lists them as one item rolleyes

Amazon Music Unlimited is now in the UK. £9.99 monthly (matching Spotify), £7.99 monthly for Prime members, or £3.99 monthly to only have it to play on your Echo speaker. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/dmusic/promotions/Amaz...

Echo now has native LightwaveRF integration. No need for IFTTT.

I'm just waiting for Heatmiser and Sonos, and I'll buy a few Dots.

Hmm, does this give unlimited access to music that's available in the MP3 store but not on Prime?

It looks like a bigger selection of songs (40 million as opposed to 2 million on Prime Music).

I did notice they also off a much cheaper price for access from one Echo device £4 a month.

Is Heatmiser going to integrate with Echo. Of all the remote heating controls I've tried Heatmiser has been the best for me and if that integration came, I'd be tempted with an Echo even if I have been ridiculing it for the past 6 months as the most useless first world gadget we neither wanted nor needed.

Yep got to be one item at a time. Even trying to speak as clear as I can it still can’t recognise certain things, it put in “beef mints” the other day.

I just did comparison to other music streaming services and it seems Amazon now takes the lead for the biggest library. Impressive

That question was asked on the HeatMiser forum. Their reply was that they are concentrating on their own UI/UX at the moment (bit short sighted IMO) however I absolutely cannot believe this won't be on the cards before long. Having Echo native integration will help sell HeatMiser, and if LightwaveRF have done it (which has always felt like a small company to me) then HeatMiser ought to.

HeatMiser has been fantastic for me.

I find IFTTT is a useful addition to Heatmiser Neo.
