I sold mine in January after getting it as a Christmas gift from an American friend. It was very cool, just limited as couldn't sign into my UK Amazon account, so couldn't stream music etc...

You could say 'Alexa, play Live 105' (American Radio Station) or Alexa, what is the weather in London?

If I get something like this, I'll wait for the Google Home to come out and then see which one is better.

Love the idea, but never going to work with Apple Music (for obvious reasons) and Nest is conspicuous by its absence.

Will have to make do with Siri + Raspberry Pi + HomeBridge.
Alexa controls Nest thermostats.

Hmm, ordered as well, because Siri won't speak to my thermostat. Think it's time to get rid of that thermostat.
Which thermostat? I just got Siri to talk to Nest today smile
It is a Nest. How did you manage that?

Do you need an Exho in order to make the Dot work?

Unusually, I'm struggling to find any enthusiasm for the product.

I don't believe so. I think the Echo is bigger because it has a larger speaker for playing music.

Homekit?
Doesn't show up in Homekit. Homekit only found my Hue bulbs.

HomeKit. Using Homebridge on a Raspberry Pi. Can now control lightwave kit via Siri too.

Well people, release date is nearly here.

Both my wife and I have been talking as if Alexa is already listening:
Alexa, add foil to the shopping list.
Alexa, play Heart FM.
Alexa, remind me at 6pm to out the bin out (well, tell the butler obviously)

Anybody else looking forward to it?

And I've downloaded the app to set my work location (for travel info), news sources and media defaults.

I'm looking forward to it - will be watching this thread with interest to see what it can do and to hopefully convince myself that I haven't completely wasted £99 smile

When I was a kid, we were all worried about the NSA Line Eater.

And then it was Echelon.

And now it's Echo.

"They've" commoditised it!!!
