Mine arrived today and I can now turn the radio on, play music and discover what the weather is like. Haven't managed to connect it to my Tado heating controller yet though - Tado say that you can do this, but it doesn't seem to appear in the list of Echo supported 'skills'

Anyone made theirs do anything more useful yet?

I think the dot has an October release date.

My Echo is being delivered today too.

EDIT: Yes, Dot is being released 20th October.

Had an american one with the address credentials manipulated to represent my UK address. Everything worked except Prime with the added bonus of Pandora etc. Swapped it over to UK now.
I have 2 echos arriving today and 2 dots in october.
Why?... well I have used the Alexa skills to point back to my server at home. I run NodeRed on this to connect to anything - and report back on anything. I'm not limited to the Alexa skills catalogue.....

btw, Alexa (apparently) only listens for the wake work and sends the audio from just before this to amazon. It is (apparently) not sending all the time.

Here is how to link Alex to Node Red for reference https://nathan.chantrell.net/20160328/amazon-echo-...

No support for Tado yet - I raised a service request and have just received an answer (confusingly entitled "Reply to your Kindle enquiry") - but apparently it's coming 'soon'

If music is playing and you say "Alexa f**k off"

"Alexa - Tea, Earl Grey, hot"

"I'm sorry, the replicators are offline"

hehe

"Alexa - close the pod bay doors"

"I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that... they're already closed"

Some proper geeks at Amazon

I want to say:
Alexa, how many pieces will you break into when I smash you with a fking hammer.

I will find out shortly as if it doesn't stop displaying a purple ring (can't connect to wifi) then that's what I'm going to do.

Mine was deliverd today.

So far it's total st***

It won't connect to any of my networks, and keeps having issues with setup.

Can't be arsed to play with it any more.

It's going back for a full refund first thing Tommorow.

Mine took a few tries before it would connect - I think that I set it up via the laptop in the end

I have just phoned Amazon.

There is a BT fault that will stop this for working for lots of BT customers and he is going to email when it has been resolved.

It is being worked on at present so it might be fixed anytime between now and tomorrow apparently.

Don't send it back or smash it into pieces just yet (goes to get superglue)

I'm trying to get mine to turn the TV on via my Harmony Hub and IFTTT, she just says that she doesn't know what went wrong and won't do it, bh!

And she's better at ignoring my gf than me!

Same problem here. Everything else I've tried works but can't get it to turn the TV on. Let me know if you figure it out.

Problems with the BT HH have been known since May, this might be worth a try if anyone's having a problem:

Does anyone know if sky is possible yet? With my projector screen down the box is blocked so was going to get a repeater, hopefully I won't need to
