Hi all.

I've had a mid end gaming PC for around 3 years now. I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 970 next week, however I'm thinking that I'll need to upgrade my power supply. I would like to future proof as I'm planning more upgrades later this year so I would like to just bung the power supply in now and make sure it's got enough power later on.

Now I'm running.

Intel I5-3570K 3.40GHZ
ASUS P8H61 Motherboard
8GB DDR3 Ram (1 stick)
Nvidia GTX 660
SATA 500GB HDD
400W PSU

As I said I'm going to upgrade to a GTX 970 next week, and would like to have the option to run a second in the future if need be, I would also like to add at a later date a 1TB hard drive and possibly a SSD and possibly upgrade the CPU + mobo.

I'm looking at a 750W PSU but will that be able to handle running two graphics cards down the line, or should I just go out, spend the extra and get an 850W?

Thanks.

750W should be fine as long as you stick to good 80 Plus certification PSU's prob GOLD spec.

The Corsair RMi models version have recently been introduced/updated.

http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/rmi-series-rm750i-750...

Comes with a 7 year warranty, good rep, tests well, fully modular, and is even able to run silent at low loads.

It will be able to power your machine through a few upgrade cycles.

Just choose the size you need, 650, 750, 1000w

I've run an AX1200i, and even though its overkill, its been flawless for many years and the monitoring software (corsair link) is actually quite good.

1 post in 3 months, top lurking!

Even the best PSUs have a finite lifespan, the electrolytic capacitors tend to dry up, even when 105 degree Nichicon or similar. Just the nature of the beast. Buy one for your needs now. 750W should be more than plenty.
