We're off to Sicily on holiday next month and we're hiring a car. In case we don't get sat nav in the car, is it possible to plot the route from the airport to the accomodation in Google Maps (or some similar Android app) so we can call it up and use that if need be, without having to enable data roaming and get whacked with a big bill when we get home?

You can save and download maps from Goole Maps to your phone in the app.

I use CoPilot on my phone, all maps are stored locally but you do have to pay for it. Best SatNav I've ever used though. The active traffic service is also very good.

Thanks, that sounds like it might work. Can you tell me how? I've looked in the (fairly recent) past and not seen anything that looks like what I need.

Open Maps
Search for the place of interest
At the bottom of the screen, touch the bar that has the name of the place.
In the top right hand corner, touch menu
Select Save Offline Map

Sicily is Feel at Home with 3 if you're on them, meaning that any data would come out of your allowance. Failing that, Navman
