I have a Virgin SuperHub2 in the lounge and I want to have the ability to have networking in my attic. My SuperHub2 does give a good signal to the attic, but I need to run a network cable for my server. Can I simply get a reasonable repeater / router and configure it to run in parallel with my SuperHub2, so that I can then run a network cable to my server?

Thanks.

In bridge mode, if i recall correctly, otherwise you double NAT and DHCP goes a bit batst.... At least it did here when we tried a similar install.

Cheers! Do I need to put both into bridge mode? One assumes that it won't affect the wi fi performance of the superhub?

Powerline adapter should sort you: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_14?url=...

Or you could just put a wifi-usb adapter into your server ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=sea...

I'd go with power line though.

Server is running vmware

I have stty old wiring with old style fuse box, not sure that would work well with powerline adapters?

Agree with Nyt, powerline is the best way to go. And Devolo is the best bet for awkward situations.

My router is in the attic, which has a separate ring from the rest of the house, but my Devolos get a decent speed/signal to the ground floor even so.

What speeds are you seeing? Good enough to stream video over?
