That first world problem.....what phone?
Discussion
Hey guys,
My wife goes through more phones than I have had hot dinners. She currently has a Sony Xperia L and wants something thats a little faster. She doesn't want to be tied into a contract so it will be a sim free purchase of £250 max.
Her main usage of a mobile seems to be your typical ladies of 2015...ie facebook, pintrest, netflix, selfies and photos.
So far we have come up with the following...
Nokia Lumia 640 XL (13mp camera and 5mp front)
Samsung A3 (nice metal and glass build but only 5mp camera)
Any ideas or recommendations? Just to note Apple is right out (as she isn't a fan of the company).

Seems to be well reviewed but ...
- There is a new model announcement at the end of July
- 4G only works on the Three network

Any specs preferred?
Within that budget:
The OnePlus one is deffo the one to beat in this price class, but there's a OnePlus Two on the way... just so you know.
Oh, and I rather have hepatitis than have a budget Samsung phone. It's almost as bad as Apple, still charging hundreds for their old devices.
Within that budget:
- OnePlus One: amazing spec for the money, order online though, best OS imho. 5.5" screen
- Moto G: well within the budget, camera not great but deffo on par with the ones on your list
- Nexus 5: Not the best camera, and a bit older, but still a great buy esp as they tend to go for throw-away prices these days

If looking to stick with android then agree with what's already said about the nexus 5. Slightly older handset but superb and still a decent spec. Camera is perfectly good and it handles lollipop perfectly well. The missus has one and it is a great phone.
I've just come from a huawei ascend p6 which was their flagship a few years ago and served me well for the last 2 years. Would highly recommend looking at the newer ascend p7 which is in your price range.
I see you are considering a windows phone too. I have a Lumia 930 as my phone and love it to bits. Its a lovely device. Fantastic build quality and the os is superb. Really well thought out and very nice to use. My only suggestion is that you check the apps your partner relies on daily are available or that there are good alternatives. The app store is much much better than it was even 6 months ago but there are still holes that big app users will have problems with. Everything I ever use my phone for is covered.
A friend has the 640 and he loves it. Its a well speced mid range phone. Nothing special though. Have a look at the Lumia 830 which is in your price range sim free and a great device. The 930 may be in range too.

Z3 Compact should be £250 or thereabouts, non?
Sorry, I only checked prices here and it's the equivalent of £300.Plenty of decent phones for a bit less than that though...
I came to suggest the OnePlus. I has a few little annoyances every now and again but it would definitely be an amazing phone even if I had paid twice the price it is.
If your wife isn't too concerned about brand names have a look at the THL 5000, sold by ChinaVision, or the Oppo Find 7 which is available on Amazon or through their own online storefront.
Have a search on the forums for the thread 'Should choosing a new phone be difficult today'. It pretty much goes through all your options, albeit it is a year old now.

My mate bought 2 of those Oneplus phones and he loves them. (1 for him and one for his Mrs).
They havent had any faults. The screen protector is very good but it's crackable unlike alot of the plasic protectors. His cracked but the new one was fairly cheap I think and fairly easy to apply.
He also had a problem with them taking too much money from his bank account which took a while to get sorted because of some deal or something that didnt apply correctly. The advise he gave was try and use a credit card to order the phone so u can get ur money back should anything go wrong with the online order.
Overall tho a great phone as far as he says.
