Checking for updates

My macbook air has 2 updates to install but i can't because it is continually checking for updates. Any ideas how to fix this ?

My iMac has been been the same, think there's an issue with then Apple servers or similar. Leave it a few days, I'm sure they'll sort it.

force stop the update service and see what it does then
