Discussion
The amp/speaker people are bringing out a smart phone. For music lovers.

Tech not as good as Samsung or Apple but two front facing speakers. Hmm.

Nice concept but I think they've got the wrong mix. Why would you not get any other phone and then one of the million Bluetooth speakers on the market, most of which will be better than any built-in phone speaker. They'd have been better off focusing on uncompressed audio or something. They've got too hung up on bring a speaker company.

They are aiming that at a very specific (read small) audience, surely?
They're trying to create an android device that actually has some desirability. The only people that use phone speakers are knife-crime teens on public buses, and they're only bothered about annoying other people as an excuse to beat the st out of them, not so much the quality of sound. Also, I read an article and it does support lossless audio, but with 16Gb of storage you might quickly get a bit bored with your portable music collection being as it would total about 20 tracks.
There is absolutely, definitely a future in high-quality portable music though, but it will remain very niche until devices have so much storage that we can just use lossless for everything. Nearly all people won't give a st or even notice the quality difference though.

It plays flac files and has aptX bluetooth; they're obviously aiming this at the music lover/audiophile - I do like the styling though.stevoknevo said:

If I was looking for a phone right now I'd go for that. I really like the looks.
Your post has just made me actually click on the link in the OP. I didn't realise it was actually now a thing was available for preorder, thought it was just one of those things where company X are thinking about making product Y. That'll learn me not to make assumptions. Now I've actually read about it, id like to retract my first post about aiming it at a small audience. The specs look good enough, certainly won't be frustratingly slow by the looks of it. But the phone itself, it looks absolutely great. Id probably buy it for its aesthetics alone. Plus I like LOUD phones, great for watching videos on in the living room without resorting to headphones or MBA.
I stand corrected. I want one.

Really? There's dozens? The SGS6 is widely lauded as the best phone at the moment, selling like hotcakes whilst being very expensive. Blown2CV said:

Wow, I could measure temperature using a beachball and come to a more accurate conclusion. Try a high and HTC and make that statement again. Or aren't they desireable enough for you? Blown2CV said:

Funny thing, for big storage you don't need overpriced memory from an oem. This will do: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDXC-Adapter-SD...
Having recently watched a very interesting documentary on Marshall, I do wonder if founder Jim Marshall is currently turning in his grave.
Good looking phone though and I'm guessing that they have to lend their name to things other than amplifiers as from what I gather, their amps last a long time, so repeat business could be limiting.

Iirc it's a seperate company that makes headphones, under license.Good looking phone though and I'm guessing that they have to lend their name to things other than amplifiers as from what I gather, their amps last a long time, so repeat business could be limiting.
They are the ones coming out with the phone as well.

Very cool idea!
It's a shame that the specs are comparable to that of a 150 quid phone.
Much like an iPhone? It's a shame that the specs are comparable to that of a 150 quid phone.
ETA: I'm one of probably very few people who's interested to see if Bang & Olufsen will ever do a decent Android phone.

I agree, I was missing a wink face.
I do really like this phone but between this and the OnePlus Two this looks a bit basic.
If my Xperia Z2 unexpectedly dies though I will be considering it.
It's a shame, I think they missed out on a much bigger audience by skimping on the internals. I do really like this phone but between this and the OnePlus Two this looks a bit basic.

Although not every phone needs to be a powerhouse I guess!
Just makes it a bit more future-proof in my opinion.

It really does look good, but £400 for an Android with a 720p display (just for instance) really looks poor.Although not every phone needs to be a powerhouse I guess!

I would be willing to pay a bit more for this phone if the spec was similar to a Sony Z3 or Samsung S5, for instance. But as it stands it would be a step back and even if it was really cheap I would struggle with that. My last two phones were 1080p display and equal to this or better in every other way so I don't really want to go below that.

It would be very hard to justify, especially since it's camera looks mediocre. I would be willing to pay a bit more for this phone if the spec was similar to a Sony Z3 or Samsung S5, for instance. I don't actually think the resolution would be too much of an issue (for me anyway)- I have a Z3C, which is also 720p, and it's pretty sharp. Although I am starting to miss the bigger screen of my old Xperia Z...can't win can you
