It's cheaper and more flexible to pay for the phone outright.
Going by the prices im looking at right now, I want to stay on EE, I want an iPhone 6 64GB and I need 10gb of data. Contract with EE;
£50x24 = £1200
Upfront cost = £120
Total = £1320
Phone outright with equivalent tariff;
Phone = £539
10gb sim only contract @ 12x£25.99 = £311.88 (multiplied by 2 to give same length of time) = £623.76
Total = £1162.76
Granted the price of the sim-only can and probably will come down after the first year, but as I don't have £540 lying around for a phone I don't mind paying an extra £157 over two years
I hope that ios9 does something about the st way that iphones store those photo files, and how hard it is to get them off to a PC etc when you don't want to use the abomination that is the Windows version of iTunes. Connect via USB and you're presented with a pile of randomly named folders, one for each month but no way to work out which is this month's folder without digging around inside each one; and each often containing several dead ended "shortcut" files that properly confuse other windows apps you might want to use to pull the photos off.
Just stick them all in one single DCIM folder like every other digital camera, and which standard apps understand; or at least put some indicator on the randomly named subfolders to show at a glance which one might be the latest months' folders.
Does my head in. I get that the iphone is not intended for serious photography but it certainly never will be when the simple task of copying the latest photos off is such an annoyance.

On a Mac they just import in to the Photos app.Just stick them all in one single DCIM folder like every other digital camera, and which standard apps understand; or at least put some indicator on the randomly named subfolders to show at a glance which one might be the latest months' folders.

£157 is quite still quite a chunk though - wouldn't it be worth getting a 0% credit card or something to buy the phone? A bit of a faff but then you'd have an unlocked iPhone that you could just stick a locally bought SIM in when you go abroad. And swap to a better SIM only deal when one became available...[snip]

My 5S is still serving me well and I am unsure about "upgrading" - I do like the fact that the motion processor is always on, as I use fitness tracking apps and this may help with battery life. I feel I am scraping the bottom of the barrel using this as a justification though.
Just hope that Vodafone continue to bundle in Spotify with some of their plans.

I think iCloud comes with 5gb storage included - it might be easier to turn on iCloud photo library and then access your photos via a browser at iCloud.com - you could just then download your photos from iCloud to your photo program on your PC.Ok pricing it up on EE 10Gb data package - purely as you cannot get sim only over that.
64Gb iphone6s £619 to buy.
24 month sim only £25.99
Total cost £1,242.76
Now contract phone
£99.99 upfront
24 month £49.99
Total cost £1,299.75
Difference - £56.99 more to go contract.
However the contract is the special package which gives you free inclusive EU roaming calls and texts, upgrade 3momths early and gives you access to double speed 4G.
So £56.99 over 24 months is £2.37 more PCM for all those extras..... Buying doesn't look that great to be frank.

stuff and things
If that's a genuine plan, i.e £49.99 a month with 10gb on a 6s with 64gb then I'll be 'avin it!Thanks
I'm going 20Gb a month as have had this last few years over kill maybe but it's peanuts more.
You say loyalty, they say mug
I suppose one of these will arrive in the post for me soon due to my work 18 month rotation on phones, I think I prefer the 5 form factor to the 6, shame they have gone down the light and plastic feel vs the re-assuring weight of the old one.
One thing that is interesting is how much quicker I'll be able to stream stuff etc, my current tariff seems horrific, I get charged £5 for every 250mb over the initial 250mb limit per month, as you can imagine, even on a 5 I get about 25 of these texts per month informing me I've been charged a £5er, surely with this new thing I'm going to be doing that every ten minutes!!

250MB/month? That's some properly 2005 contract surely? On 4G, with a lot of music streaming, I easily chew through several GB's/month.If you can't afford to pay for a phone outright, just get a new 0% credit card to pay for the phone then just pay off the card. You get your overall contract cheaper and as the card in 0% you don't pay any interest. I do this every year as by 12 months I'm bored and want a new phone.

Clock speed has gone up from 1.3-1.4 Ghz to 2.2-2.4Ghz that's massive that's the 70% improvement in speed.
Does not justify upgrade cost from 6+, Mr fanboy.I have a six and cannot see any point in upgrading, I cant imagine the average user is going to notice any difference, the last big innovation for me was the fingerprint recognition with the 5S.
I get the impression that they are running out of ideas, or at least drip feeding them.
