A little 4K video test. In reality I will probably stick it on the 1080 60fps settings.

Nice. I went for the 1080 60fps setting as I have nothing 4K yet and feel that the quality is still superb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqO-R8I8gQw
Mrs 2cv wants a new phone and having costed it all out it looks like the 6 is no cheaper than the 6s in real terms. Maybe £50 over 2 years. That's looking at various deals, buying phone on eBay and getting SIM only, all sorts. Weird. I thought previously it always saved a fair bit to go with previous version. Maybe values will drop in a few weeks?! She wants a rose gold one anyway so i think her mind is made up.

It's always pointless buying the older model once the new one is out. Brand new at least.
The difference in cost is never worth owning a phone that's already a year old. People always seem to think it is but it never is.
Seems the case. The difference in cost is never worth owning a phone that's already a year old. People always seem to think it is but it never is.
I'm still on a basic iPhone 4 and thought the launch of the 6S would mean a much cheaper 6. But to buy outright from Apple is only £80 less for a 64Gb version.
As I've been with Vodafone for so long I pay £10 for pretty much an unlimited contract considering my usage so it's probably best for me to simply buy outright.

This is mainly true for the iPhone and SGS series, other phones drop so fast in purchase value that it makes sense. Apple keeps the "new price" of it's older models very high, which in turn keeps resale values high. The difference in cost is never worth owning a phone that's already a year old. I think beginning last year a friend of mine purchased a new 4S for €400
After selling my iPhone 6 16GB a month ago (£440 - just before prices dropped), I ordered a 6S 64GB at 8:04 on the day pre orders started.
2 days later I decided to change to the 6S Plus 64GB + case (£728 total) and got a delivery date of 12th-19th October.
Yesterday I found that 6 Plus 64GB could be had for £440 to £490 on ebay and I had a 10% off code for PayPal.
I have a mint condition 6 Plus 64GB with case on its way having paid just £425 so that is over £300 saved.
I wanted the 6S Plus but is force/3D touch, a better camera and a few other small improvements really worth £300? To me, it wasn't so will wait for the 7 next year.

Depends what contract you need. O2 are dong a 4gb. Unlimited calls/text sim only for 19.54 at the moment.
even then though. The phone she wants is (was) iphone 6 64Gb and they're about £500-540 new, now, which is £22.50 a month over 2 years. With the SIM that's £42 a month. Mobile phones direct are knocking out 6s 64Gb with 10Gb data on EE, unlimited everything else, £40 upfront for the phone and then £45 a month. The 6 doesn't appear to be sufficiently cheaper to consider it. The same website only has the same deal with the equivalent iphone 6 at the same cost, only difference is it's free upfront... £40 cheaper over 2 years!!Interesting camera comparison. Seems like they really stepped up their game. https://youtu.be/b_1Bgfl6qvk

Ladies & gentlemen, if you have a 6/6s and a shell case, what do you use or recommend for protecting the screen from scratching when it's in your pocket or handbag? Other then an empty pocket?
I've just bought a 6S and got and Otterbox symmetry case with a glass screen protector. That will be all I need to stop the phone from being trashed. Edited by Composite Guru on Wednesday 30th September 16:35

I use the official Apple leather case with a crystal clear Terrapin screen cover. Had the same combo on my 6 and it was like brand new still after a year.ecsrobin said:
Are these glass screen covers really worth it? I picked up an apple leather case today which the quality is what you'd expect but I've seen some of these glass screen protectors that don't cover the whole screen.
I've never had a plastic screen protector that covered the whole screen either. Since fitting my ipad with an anker glass screen protector I instantly wanted one for my new phone. The plastic ones aren't as tactile either so the glass versions make it feel like you are touching the screen without a protector.
