Rumours suggest it's due to force touch etc

Apparently iOS9 is going to be released in versions optimised for older phones too. Hopefully it'll work well with my 4S which I've never taken beyond 7 due to nightmare stories I've heard about the 4S running 8. If so It'll be adequate compensation for no 6 'mini' appearing.

I'm not sure about that but I'm currently running ios9 on my iPad and it's a huge improvement behind the scenes compared to older iOS releases.

If they changed nothing but doubled battery life, I'd buy a brand new one right away over my regular 6.

Biggest issue for me is this damn battery life, nightmare and I still think typing sucks. Though now I have a home office it's not such a big deal as I'm 90% of the day at my desk.

you probably won't be allowed the update and if you are then it will make it run like a dog so you are forced to upgrade the handset.

Ios9 supports the 4s. To be fair a 4s is 4 years old so in the world of technology is a dinosaur.

It does support the 4S, but supporting the 4S and actually being advisable to run on a 4S are two completely different things. iOS8 also supports the 4S, but I never upgraded to 8 on my 4S because of the nightmare stories I heard from those who had, but what I've read about 9 is that a version that's optimised for the device will be installed when you do the update. While the 4S is, I admit, a dinosaur, I'm sticking with it as long as I can because I don't want a larger phone.

Isn't the version of 8 that the 4s gets supposedly optimised as well? With less animations, transparency and such?
Ios 8 basically rendered my 4s useless.
And pretty buggy as well.

Give it a go? The public beta version allows you to roll back the software if you don't like it, which you wouldn't be able to do with the official release.

Just be aware the odd app may not be optimised yet.

The beta doesn't give a good view of how the finished os will behave. Beta are only functionally complete, not performance etc.

So we have an iPhone5S and an iphone4. The wife has the 4 and the home button is getting worn out - I had it for 2 years use then passed onto her for the last 2 years.

Currently I'll be going the iphone6+ (really unsure of a 64Gb or 128Gb. Currently have 32Gb and max it out periodically).

Clearly willl see what is announced tomorrow and then either opt for the latest one or if the cheaper deals the older one - however as we use them for at least 4 years it's probably worth going for the latest available.

What's people's views about outright purchase over contract? Have always done contract

Do the maths. I worked out it'd take me 18 months to break even if I bought it sim free over a contract. So over 2 years, i save money.

Outright purchase is always cheaper over what would be the term of a typical contract. The 6 will also be cheaper than the 6s.

I called EE today to ask about the 128Gb versions of 6 and he 6+.

They only had 20 of the 6+ and 40 of the 6 - no more were being ordered. So potentially after tomorrow if you want a 128Gb 6/6+ you will not be able to buy a new one and be forced down he route of the 6s/6s+.

Do you really need 128Gb?

I've got a reasonable size music collection, some photos and a few apps and I used about half of the available space on my 128Gb

This is what I'm thinking 64gb is double what I have now do I really need 3x?

I guess I could have more films on my phone but I don't buy iTunes films and I've no idea if ripping non iTunes films onto the iPhone is possible or not if not then I'll need to spend a fortune on more music
