Smart phone gets very hot when using Sat Nav

One problem I have using my iPhone for Sat Nav is that it gets very hot, which is worrying. Seemingly it is because it is trying hard to keep up with the current location. I don't think there have been any reports of phones melting but it does cause me some concern.

If an Iphone gets too hot it will display a warning message:


I use mine on a regular basis for satnav for seceral hours at a time and it gets very hot yet this warning has only popped up a few times.

Aircon on the windscreen does actually keep it cool as well.

Only time I have ever got that "iphone is too hot" thing is when I've been using my phone as a satnav in the scorching heat of Los Angeles, even my actual satnav was too hot!

The usual advice is to fit an air-vent mount, and this keeps the phone cool.
