Nexus 7 running slow

My 2012 N7 was lightning when I bought it but got slower and slower. Factory resets didn't help and I never installed Lollipop. I can't understand why it didn't go back to its original speed!

Got fed up and bought a Hudl2 for £100.

Xperia Tablet is awesome.

The Nexus is much happier back on Kitkat.

My missus now has new tablet envy...

I had the 2012 N7 for a year and started noticing slight speed drops, so I got a 2013 N7. Has been great until the last couple of months - but it's starting to feel a bit less smooth than it used to be.

I also have a Galaxy Nexus phone which was GREAT brand new. But the last couple of years it has been getting slower and slower. Tried factory reset and lightweight ROMs - they help for a few days and then it just gets worse again, even with no apps installed.

I think all the Android system and app updates must be too much for older devices to handle.

My N7 2013 was running slow, especially Chrome, so I rebooted into recovery mode and cleared the cache partition. It's flying along again now.
