I've had my Moto G (gen 1) for a couple of years now and it's running incredibly slow and I've never been happy with the camera quality. Looking to buy a sim only phone for around £200 or less. Options so far are the gen 3 Moto G which gets good reviews, or the Samsung J5, which there isn't too much info on yet.

Has anyone got either of these or another they'd recommend?

I have had one for about six months. I don't use a huge number of Apps. Camera is great. Free sat nav is great. Connectivity is great. Memory can be upgraded with micro SD card. Battery life lasts an easy two days with my limited use.

If you're willing to go a little over-budget (40 quid) then the Huawei Honor 6 is a nice device... quite a bit higher spec than the Moto G's (ie 1080p screen, great battery, 3GB RAM, 16GB ROM + SD Card etc).

My Dad uses a Nokia but I had discounted them due to not wanting a Windows phone.

The Huawei looks pretty decent actually but I don't want to spend that much, have to draw a line somewhere. There is a cheaper model I've just seen though, the Ascend G7 which I will take a look at.

i have one, screen is big and great. runs most things no issues. Camara is pretty good too and battery life, and has a premiuim feel to it.

Only a few niggles with the phone, but some great bundleed software. i would recommend at this price. i came from a sony compact z2 which i broke, and this performs about 90% as good at about 80% the price.

Spend an extra £19 and you can get a 64gb oneplus one, absolutely unbeatable for the money, high end specs. I've got one, easily better than previous samsungs and my works iphone. The only bad thing ever seems to be they say the stock camera isn't the best, but just download the oppo camera for free and job done.

If the £200 isn't a "hard limit", absolutely this.

If it is, I'm a big fan of the Moto G for less money.

Don't forget the Moto G has grown A LOT from 2013 -> 2014/2015.

The oneplus one though is deffo a size larger, as big as the Note and only slightly smaller than the iPhone 6+.

Yeah, The OnePlus One comes with Cyanogen 12 or it could Oxygen 1 (OPs own OS)

But it's not bloatware smile

CM (CynanogenMod) is by far the most pleasant Android experience I've had so far. It adds to the standard (nexus) android, but imho in some very good ways. Standard android is the easiest for most people though, and non-techies can find their way very easily.

I've not tried Oxygen but I heard it's pretty good?

Thanks for all the replies so far.

Next question though...is the Carphone Warehouse ID network any good? I know it runs off the back of Three but will it be as good?

Despite some good advice in here I've gone ahead with the Moto G. It isn't the 16GB/2GB version I originally wanted but for £160 delivered, rather than £210 I'm not complaining.
Also, I'm going to try out ID network...Plenty of mins and texts plus 5GB data for £15 per month using Three network. Can't be too bad, plus it's only on a 1 month rolling contract so I can change at any point.
