1st Gen Kindle Battery Replacement?
Discussion
Hi Guys
Just wondered if anyone here has replaced the battery in their 1st gen Kindle?
My Mum's has gone south and I think the battery is ruined, I've tried all the things I can find to "reset" the thing but to no avail.
I've got the back cover off and the original battery out, but the only replacements I can find are cheap third party jobbies on eBay.
Are these any good? I'm always a bit wary about cheap batteries/power adapters etc.
Thanks

If it's actually first gen (it was a couple of generations before they arrived in the UK) then the back just slides off. I don't think Amazon have ever sold spares though so it's all third-party sellers.
Worth getting in touch with Amazon though, they can be pretty generous with discounts on a new one if it keeps you on their system and buying more books!

Ah, maybe it wasn't the first gen then, as it was a fight to get the back off, it was stuck down with a strong adhesive.Worth getting in touch with Amazon though, they can be pretty generous with discounts on a new one if it keeps you on their system and buying more books!
I might bite the bullet and try a battery replacement, they're only about £10, will check with Amazon about the cost of a replacement though, thanks.

My sister's 2nd gen had a cracked screen after she closed the car door on it . They offered her a £30 discount on a new one.
