I have a new toshiba L50 i7 laptop. Im not sure if this is a Windows 10 problem or an issue with the laptop. The power saving settings are set that the screen goes off after 15 mins. If the screen goes off the fan on the pc is stil going and the Num lock light is on but i cant get the screen to come on. The pc isnt fully asleep as I can still hear the hard disk and fan going. Only way to get back into it is to turn the machine off.

i5 and i7 Haswell processors have a deep sleep state where power consumption is so low that some old/cheap power supplies are not compatible with it. This results in problems like the one you describe. Google c6/c7 sleep state - should be able to disable it via the bios if that is the issue although apparently it's disabled by default on most mobos to avoid this potential issue.

Have checked in the BIOS and also changed the settings to allow USB charging set to off. Problem still there of when I shut the pc down the lights stay on and fans are still spinning. Even if I shut the lid. Seems a faulty machine to me.
