Got to love MS's ever usefull solution :
Outlook is borked in Capitan
Solution : do not use Capitan
hehe

I'd be so creative writing these solutions :
  • Write a complaint to Apple.
  • pay the main price for software as well, upgrade to Office 2016

Tis interesting though, I have Office 2011 but do not use the mail. Shirley someone in the beta testing would have tried it?

Might open it in a minute but it tries to take over.

Think I've answered my own question, VMware Fusion needs to be v8 to run on El Capitan. Upgrade from v6 is EUR 45.00! Robbing barst.....
Just upgraded to El Capitan and VMware 6.0.6 works fine...

Downloaded El Capitan on Thursday, but didn't try using Outlook until today, when I read the above posts. I don't know if someone at Apple has found a quick fix, but Outlook seems to be working fine now. (Office for Mac 2011)

Weirdly I figured I'd try Safari now (usually use chrome) but I found Safari crashes on BBC News website when trying to watch the live video stream..

Reverted to Chrome again..

It's only Exchange accounts that are plagued, so if you're on POP3/IMAP only then you'll be unaffected.

Can't seem to browse/connect to network resources reliably in finder. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, no idea why. Select Go/Network and it reappears. Odd

Thanks for letting me know! All okay, no issues you've found?

My late 2009 mini wouldn't even get to the login screen after installing - eventually (4+ hours) was able to get a usable machine by restoring from Time Machine using the back-up I took before downloading. First time in 10+ years of using a Mac that I've had problems with an OS update - think I'll just stick with Yosemite.

Not so far - I do not use the Windows instances very often but Win 7 and Win 10 both work OK.

No issues with office here, although I don't use outlook.

However, four times since installing the full version of el capitan now I have opened the mac (13" air) from sleep and it has done a black screen with an error message - something like your computer encountered an unexpected error and shut down. It was rock solid on yosemite and never seen this error before.
Hmmm

Disappointing. I have also had it freeze up on me which used to happen occasionally on Yosemite. Mouse shows the hand and moves but nothing so have to do a hard reboot.

If it's still there after an upgrade, maybe it's a driver or hardware issue?

I SSD'd mine with El Capitan coming out because the old HDD had been in there for about 5 years now and it'd gone through upgrade after upgrade and had filled twice before having to trash stuff.

I only have fairly basic stuff on mine, Mail app, Open Office, Photoshop and a few other bits and pieces.

I've found Chrome is an absolute tt for battery life (but I'm looking at a new battery anyway, 554 cycles, 80% charge capacity). The newer Safari in El Capitan is better (less resource hungry, faster) than the one in earlier versions, it's just a shame that Chrome kills it so badly as all my stuff's in The Google
