So i'm needing a new phone. Went down the whole cheap high spec Chinese road with a UMI Zero. Bad move. Hate the thing, riddled with bugs and problems. So looking for a new phone. so far i have a short list of the following , plz feel free to add your opinions and recommendations if I've missed out a handset

The Wileyfox Storm. A bit of a gamble as its a new company, running Cyanogen OS so not sure of OTA updates.

Moto X Play. a good looking phone, but uninspiring.

LG G4.

Nexus 5X. Feel the specs are a bit sparse

Not at all, it's very light. And Sony are pretty good at updates. Currently on 5.1.1.

Of that list, Nexus every time... if not then WileyFox or consider OnePlus One or Two? Cyanogen OTA updates happen, so no worries there. More frequent if you do it manually/offline, but I've had no issues with an OTA only OnePlus.

Elephone P8000 and pocket the remaining £190.

OK, so it's basically a phablet but if you can live with that, seems incredible value for money.

Agree with this. One of the best all round phones I've had in years.

And me. love it. Nova launcher with its 5x5 icon grid makes it spot on.

Though I went with the Z3 Compact, as it has a better battery life and still fits in a pocket.

Yup. Also Sony are the only firm who use the full power hardware in their 'compact' versions.

I'll definitely be upgrading to new Z5 soon.

Didn't read the review then? By the way, £300 is cheap for a smartphone, so cheap and chinese or cheap and made in another country, it's still cheap.

Hope the Sony works out for you.
