Mine is now saying delivery 16th - 18th November cry
Mine originally said 6th - 8th November and it is sitting at the UPS depot in London for delivery tomorrow (4th) so they beat the estimate.

Mine is now here and set up. First impressions are WOW it's big. I had a 23" monitor before and 27" is a huge leap. And secondly the keyboard is a bit rubbish. I haven't had an iMac before (just a Macbook Air) and it is a teeny teeny little thing that isn't raised correctly to type.

Keyboard was a worry for me but luckily I don't have to do a great deal of typing.

Never liked the Mac keyboard, too sharp and a lot of style over function. You could use a standard windows one but Logitech do some great OSx ones. They usually command a little premium over the Windows Equivalent though, but that's to be expected.

I assume you have the new Magic Keyboard that charges over Lightning? Haven't used one but the previous Apple Keyboard is a joy to use.

The new magic keyboards are a bit like the ones on the Macbook 12, but not quite as extreme. Very shallow key travel - more like a mouse click!

Everything is set up and installed. The quality of the screen is astounding. With just the default background picture the quality, depth and the ability to see so much is amazing. I am using the trackpad more than the mouse as it is more useful with gestures.

I've installed fusion and have windows 10 running in a window with my work stuff. Office 2016 is natively installed and everything runs smoothly. Haven't stressed it with anything processor intensive.

They keyboard is still annoying. As the person above said it feels like a laptop keyboard and a bit of a toy. I'm used to a 'proper' keyboard that I touch type on. And although I can do that it isn't in the right position and I think my wrists will take the strain.

Sounds great! Looking forward to it now. I'm intrigued to see how I get on with the track pad.

The track pad is a thing of beauty. Once you get used to it a mouse seems ancient smile

Our order is now 'preparing for dispatch.'

I have visions of someone with a large box of packing peanuts and a tape gun....

Dispatched!!

However, now saying delivery on the 16th. Do Apple really use the slowest couriers in the world to deliver their goods?! 6 days?!

You should have a UPS tracking number in there -- mine took two days to deliver from 'dispatched'.

Did you take the AppleCare? For some reason best known to themselves they posted in a tracked format the Applecare terms and conditions. Waste of time and money and that was dispatched quite a bit before the iMac itself.

I did indeed take the AppleCare option (crazy not to for £90!).

Very excited. Just ordered one

My Brother is currently living in the US so we've just ordered the top spec 27.5" iMac with 5k. He's sipping it to Norway for us as a "Gift" saving us a nice 800 pounds!

Absolutely Love my MacBook Pro, not a fan of anything else apple other than the computers.

Can't comment on the newest 5K models other than my uncle bought one recently and loves it.

But I converted to OSX in 2011 when I bought an August '11 model 21.5" iMac.

I love the thing and wouldn't go back. Over 4 years old now and still feels as fresh and responsive as when I first bought it. No viruses, adware, malware etc. Nothing at all.

I use it for some light video editing (1080p action cam footage), photo editing, gaming (Civ 5 etc on Steam), bit of music mixing / production.

Does everything so well. It'll last another year easily at which point I'll likely upgrade to the newest model, as I think at that point I'll be wanting a 27"+ screen and some more gaming capabilities.

Also, try to find someone that can get student discount! I got 14% off mine, so £999 became £860.

ETA: just read all the posts, congrats OP, hope you enjoy it.

So do I!!

Still down as delivery on Monday, which for something worth the thick end of £2500 sucks a bit. The thought of it being knocked around for 6 days in transit is disturbing!

Once you get it, some high-res backgrounds: http://wallpaperswide.com . I couldn't find any decent 5K videos, there are quite a lot of 4K ones that show off the screen.

There aren't any 5k videos, it's not really a format, next size up would be 8k. It's purely so you can edit 4k video and have room for a workspace around it.
