The AirPlay is fantastic.

Especially for mirroring a MacBook for presentations

Aha great. I already have smart TV functionality (which I don't really use much anyway) so that's not that important for me. I do however have quite a few Apple devices in the house so the screen mirror or airplay might certainly come in handy.

Thanks thumbup

Picked up a 32gb one today and it's a big improvement on the previous version it's replacing.

Anyone recommend any good apps for it yet?

I've had mine since the launch day and have to say I'm quite enjoying it. I use it all the time and rarely go back to standard TV.

The apps I use (in order of usage):
1. Netflix
2. TVPlayer
3. Plex
4. NFL and Red Bull TV

It does seem that this is just the beginning though. The app scene is very basic right now, but I'd hope it will grow.

I come from using a media PC for 10yrs, primarily with MediaPortal.

Using Plex, will it play all manner of video file types, or is it restricted to what we normally see through iTunes?

Very tempted to have a look at Auntie Player, but I'll need to source a USB-C cable from somewhere first. Unless there's another way to install it?

It will play anything assuming your server is up to the task of transcoding into a format the Apple TV will understand.

Anyway you can get ABC channel in the uk? A friends bought one and rather disappointed they can't get abc to for some showings earlier than the uk. I assume the only way would be to use a VPN to the US

yes

It plays nearly everything. No ISO's though, but nearly everything.
The Apple TV app looks great, I've been using the Xbox 360 and smartphone apps for a while and they're really well put together. Very impressive.

Can anyone tell me if there's a 'sky go' app for the latest apple tv??? I currently have to stream via my xbox and was wondering if the new apple tv had an app for watching sky go? I'm almost certain they wont create the app seeing they wont let ipads mirror to apple tv. but we can hope (i current live in an old tennement flat and not allowed a sky dish)

I was never able to fix the "slight stuttering" picture problem of the last version whilst streaming from my MacBook Pro Retina to Panasonic Plasma TV, tried all the settings changes on the Panny and the Apple TV box suggested on the net but nothing worked even tried hard wiring rather than using wireless, so, it's sitting there unused now.
I had the same issue, but from a 2015 MacMini via HDMI.

Turns out if was a crap quality files.
