HTC should be very worried. There seems to be a lot of us jumping ship. They're behind the curve on releases now, people are having their heads turned by other Android manufacturers who are matching them for build and quality.
Still no word on a successor to the M9 yet either...
The other thing I think would be telling is if there were a GPE of every handset. I really like the new S7's design and specs, the screen is gorgeous. I just couldn't put up with all the Touchwiz crap and bloatware. If I could have that hardware with pure Android...
I know that in theory you could root and put a custom ROM on but that breaks things which rely on the underlying stack to ensure security. I never rooted my M8 and I probably won't root my N6P either.

What Touchwiz crap do you mean? Touchwiz on the s7 is so much better than in the bad old days of the S3 etc. It's totally inoffensive now.

I agree, I hated touchwiz on the old S2 but on the S7 it really isn't bad. Even if you don't like it, you can still put another launcher on it although I haven't felt the need to yet.
S2 was quite timid compared to the S3 - S5.The S6 and S7 are great imho. I didn't go for them mainly because I like the Nexus devices and vanilla android. The N6's camera might not be as good as the S7 but it's pretty damn close and you can't ignore the price difference.

The big problem facing Android handset makers is that it's ONLY the skinning of the OS which really differentiates them nowadays; most are running the same Snapdragon processors with the same Adreno GPUs. There's very little scope for design differentiation when the screen/bezel ratio dictates a large screen in as slim a chassis as possible...
I never found the same slow-down issues with HTC's Sense, perhaps on the S6/S7 Samsung have sorted the laginess out in which case, fair play.
Anyone want to buy a lightly-used Tab S 8.4...?
Has anybody else had a new blue power/battery management screen become active recently ? It displays when you unlock the phone whilst it is charging, and I've only noticed it for the first time a few days ago. But it definitely wasn't appearing before.
Seeing as I've not installed any new apps in a few months, and that the most recent security patch/OS update was a few weeks ago and it didn't coincide with that release I think it must be connected to some of the core Google apps which received an automatic update. But that's just speculation on my part.
When I unlock the phone now it unlocks to this screen instead of the home screen. Once unlocked you have to swipe this screen away or tap the home button. Will have a look at the battery/power setting menus and the display menus to see if anything has been added in there, but I doubt it without an OTA OS update.

So you all liking these then?
Currently got an Xperia Z1 - state of the art back in 2013 - but wanting something a bit bigger - say a Note 3 - but then I'm not happy with the performance/battery of the Z1 (not sure if Android 5 is more demanding or if the phone is knackered, and Note 3 has similar hardware) plus something that's easily hackable like my Nexus 4 was (and Xperia isn't, Samsung might be the same?) Question is do I spend £120odd on something that's just a bit bigger than my Z1, or do I stop pissing about and just spend £320odd (used?) on a Nexus 6P.
Yeah yeah cool story bro etc...

Reduced at the moment so just said fk it and bought one http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/google-play-store-...
Also bought a cheap as chips £2 TPU case from fleabay, can anyone recommend any other cases (probably not too thick, but I'll see what it's like with the cheap case first).

I also have a set of these which are really helpful, again, no problems:

Might order some of those as already got a load of perfectly good microUSB cables, only worry is it putting too much stress on the connector unless I'm very careful, or is this not a problem?http://www.dx.com/p/423126

How is everyone's battery going? Mine was epic to start, would easily do a full day. I think Nougat buggered it up as I was barely getting to 5pm the last couple of weeks since the upgrade, so much so I've rolled back to MM to see how it goes.
I've tried a couple of 7.x ROMs (both stock and custom) - sometimes it's fine but other times it's like they fitted a capacitor rather than an actual battery. If I know I won't have access to a charger all day, I'll usually stick the "Battery Saver" mode on which means it'll comfortably last a day (maybe two, provided I didn't use the phone often).Would be interesting to hear if MM was any better...
