The problem is it's difficult to identify what is causing the drain. I've got a fair number of apps on the phone (Fb/whatsapp/viber/G+/tasker to name a few), possibly more than average(?) but whenever the phone goes into 'capacitor' mode the battery consumption tools are useless - the standard one just says it's the Android OS or System rather than identifying the app at fault rolleyes

You may have tried it, but I found the Battery Historian log utility helpful to identify AppyParking as my battery bd.

Assume you mean this rather than an app from the play store?

Yes, that's the chap. Not very user friendly but highlighted some suspicious entries from AppyParking. Once that was gone my battery life was gorgeous again.
