IMO this is the only way that MS can go on the mobile front. I love my Surface Pro and really like Win 10 so in order to get the business market it would be great if companies could run Windows Phone and not need laptops but buy a load of docks for them .
^^ This if you can get X86 apps to run under continuum then in the enterprise nothing else will come close, apple will continue to push "mobile" versions of everything on to everyone lacking in features, but MS will conquer.Had a 920 which I absolutely loved but I dumped it for Android a year ago, I wanted to stay with WP but they just seemed to have lost direction with a premium phone and I couldn't hold on for another year or so.
I've had a play with both the 950 and XL and whilst they bring back fond memories of a great phone, the build and design just doesn't seem right for a premium phone and the reviews haven't been all that, however I do keep an eye out for what is happening with WP as I will be open to going back, love the cameras too.

Bump.
I decided to give the 950 another go. Switched it on and installed 2 major updates and something like 40 application updates.
There is still no text editor, so I still cannot open .txt documents like I can on the 930. OK, I thought, not ideal, but I can work around this by saving them as Word docs and opening them in Word Mobile. I shouldn't have to, but I'm prepared to do that in order to get the other advantages.
Unfortunately I then started using Outlook Calendar (which I use all the time, for everything) and quickly hit another 2 showstopper bugs.
The first is that when you start to enter an appointment, the start time defaults to the current time, which is fine. But you then immediately get a notification including the sound, even though it's not saved yet. So the process of adding an appointment is interrupted by notifications.
The second one, and this one really gets on my nerves: in week view, if you enter a new appointment, it defaults to Monday, not the day you have currently selected. I thought I was going crazy until I tested it properly and confirmed it was defaulting to Monday. You have to go in and manually change the date.
Both issues were already logged in the feedback tool, so I know it isn't just me. I have upvoted both of them. Neither issue exists on the 930.
Aside from that, entering items into the calendar is much more cumbersome than it is on the 930.

t. The 950 has been out for months now and the built-in software still has basic bugs. Nearly all of the fit and finish issues I noted earlier are still there. The menus and commands are still all over the place, with little consistency between apps. It's as if all the apps were written by different teams, none of whom were given any proper style guidance, and none of whom really cared.
It's gone back in the box, again, and I'm back to the 930, which has none of these issues. I may have to look at running Outlook on an Android phone, and would be interested to hear from anyone who is doing that.

If you are looking to use it for corporate email, probably worth a line to your IT bods. When it was Accompli software, it used to proxy your requests on their Cloud servers, and that was an instant Red Card for a lot of admins.Brilliant bit of software though.

I waited for the 650 as a possible replacement for my 520. A downgrade from the 640, no camera button, and a barely functional O/S. For £200. No thanks.
I am now considering a 930 and leaving it on Win8.1 for a year.

I will investigate.I'm still using my 950, and despite the updates its had (which have improved stability) the carrot of how good W10 could be continues to dangle irritatingly out of reach. It's still my favorite mobile OS but I mourn the loss of how slick WP8.1 was by comparison, there are just too many scrappy bits around the edges still

There are a lot of problems with this new phone...it is forever hanging, it is slow to start up programs...which given the increase in processor speed is quite bewildering!There are some good points...for instance the ability to phone from within a text message is nice, but what is really niggling me is the loss of the quiet hours facility!
Overall....not as impressed as I had hoped to be. I'm very tempted to go back to the 930 I was using before.

Can't help you with the performance problems your having but the quiet hours thing is another matter - they haven't removed it, they just (in their infinite wisdom) decided to move it. To set it up now you need to go to Cortana, select "Notebook" from the hamburger menu and it's the second item in the list There are some good points...for instance the ability to phone from within a text message is nice, but what is really niggling me is the loss of the quiet hours facility!

You're totally right... I'd completely forgotten that. Yes you can get to it from the expanded version of the actions menu - short press to toggle it on/off or long press to go to the settings menu for it
Don't be embarrassed. I've had my 930 on Windows 10 for ages and only learnt that the toggle was there in this thread
