I did just bag a laptop for the daughter - some companies are being pre-emptive. Saved a tenner! Woo hoo!

Son wants a PS4 & FIFA 16 (crucially Gareth Bale is in it...) and as I've said NO, go climb a tree instead 100 times I now just need to get a good deal! May try that camel camel tip smile

Bugger all. It's tedious marketing hype over nothing.
This and this a thousand times. I despise the adoption of this American "tradition".
+1 I'm fking sick of my inbox full of this bullst. The scenes of people fighting over a TV are sickening.

Just bought a 4k TV from Curry's, didn't fancy waiting until Friday and picking up a smashed one

Nothing at all. It's just like any other sale shops put on to get rid of excess stock, old models and items that don't sell well.

I mean who would buy a Polaroid TV on a normal day? If however it's put on 'offer' and the press make such a big deal then suddenly people fight for it!

Much the same as the over hyped Next, Boxing day sale where people queue from 5 am outside the store to purchase all the st that hasn't sold through the year and previous years, which is dug out of the back of the stockroom.

Some of the things on Amazon are genuine bargains, in that they are priced higher everywhere else and do go back up in price when the lightning sale finishes. I check, as I feel as you do about most sales.

Would like a 2TB USB 3.0 drive to plug into an Xbox One. Haven't seen any killer deals advertised yet.

This will be on Amazon Deals tomorrow, any good?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00K087BM2/ref=gbps_tit...

No indication of how much the price will be reduced though.

They may be yes but you would still be buying something you wouldn't normally.

Oh, yes, of course. I only buy things that I want. Perhaps I wouldn't have actively sought it, but something I want. Last time was a Dremel multi-tool that I'd wanted for ages but didn't need. It was a good buy.

Sigh,

Oh I forget everyone's a powerfully built company director, loads of PH'ers turning there nose up this. Yes it came from America. Yes it is "council".

There are some cracking deal though, just do it all online, you dont have to fight with the riff raff in tesco at 9.50am, whats bad about getting stuff cheaper.

To the guy who said "im not buying anything out of principle" you need a "rain-check" because unless you want to get rid of Halloween/Easter/mothers day/fathers day. Then stop acting like you can do something about it and enjoy the cheap deals.

Not necessarily so HantsRat.

I've been waiting for a good deal on the Linx 1010 Tablet since it was launched. Today it is £120 including the keyboard (Amazon Deal of the Day) ... suffice to say, I have bought one and saved £20 over the next best deal I could find (being Currys which also required jumping through hoops to claim a "free keyboard").

Smart Thermostat, preferably a Hive 2 although if the Nest is reduced (there's a new model out, however the previous version would be fine) I might be tempted by that.

It's a fking hoover not a piece of modern art. hehe

Ours sits underneath a piece of furniture so you can't even see the fking thing. I pity the fool who buys inferior function for the sake of pretty design.

Which one have you got though, there's a few? Are they good then? Reviews for the £180 one seem okay

It's pretty much the definition of council. AFAICS it's usually a handful of headline deals in small quantities and a load of dreck that hasn't shifted during the year.

I'm all for getting things cheaper, but I'm quite able to source and negotiate things myself at times which suit me, i.e. when I actually need something.

Mugs who queue up to 'get a bargain' are just that, mugs. And that goes for online too, I remember several websites crashing with the load the first year this garbage was imported from the states.

It's one for the council and cringe threads for me.

No, I'm with him. It's grim, lowest-common-denominator, money-grabbing materialism.

I don't expect to be able to do something about it but I can ignore the whole thing out of principle.
